Is the Mi note 3 worth buying?

I need a new phone and was looking at the mi a1 and the Mi note 3. I Decided that the mi note 3 is the best option for me. iThe ONLY problem is the lack of Global support. Do you think this is a big enough reason to not buy the mi note 3? Is v9.1.4.0 bad, or do you just want an update? What is the biggest problem with no update? is it just because its been so long, or are there actually problems with the Global Rom that was released?

any help would be great, and any suggestions for another Xiaomi device are welcome. Id love the Mi 6 but i think it is just a bit too expensive.

Thanks!

So far the most problematic issues is the lack of Band20, for LTE or 4G, some problems with notifications and ringtones...

Yes the suport is not big as A1 or a One Plus....

Apart that, is a great phone with lot of potential.

Hmmm... i actually live in Australia and dont need B20. The only band its missing for Australia is B28 but some service providers dont even use B28, so i think its not a big problem here. Do you think its a good phone to buy if i just stay on the Miui Global Rom?

Thanks :)

Yes we are waiting and hoping for official global room update, China room is getting updates and we have global developer leaked rom. Over all I think it is worth buying. Support is better on A1 but I think MN3 is better device. I have no regrets buying MN3 so far and I have it since December.

Here's a Australian Mi Note 3 forum, not much in it though.

I would go for the Xiaomi.eu roms, I have one here in Sweden and am quite satisfied. No band 20 is somewhat of a problem here though.

Oh wow thanks! i usually search whirlpool for everything but didnt think the mi note 3 would have a thread! What is the main differnece between the eu rom and global? From what ive seen EU is based on the chinese rom but is a bit buggy?

Cool i will have to do some more research into them. How is the Beta? does this mean that a new Global Rom will be released in some time?

thanks for the help:good:

In my short experience there is about one eu weekly per month that is good, and better than the stables.

I am currently running the eu weekly 8.2.1 on Mi Mix, Mi Max Prime, and Mi Note 3.

Just look at the % approved for each weekly after 3 - 4 days, and don't install any with approval < 90%.

Then of course if you are looking for particular things to be implemented, or bugs to be fixed, you have to dig more.

The eu ROMs are well debloated, which is very nice.
They are really just debloated versions of the official China developer ROMs, with tweaks that suit Europe / "Western" countries.
There is a list at the beginning of the thread for each weekly.

The main discussion/controversy has been on the difference in the notation systems between Xiaiomis official China and Global.

Thanks for the advice. I also posted in that whirlpool thread and a guy told me similar things as you.. hes running EU rom in australia and said it works great. Sounds like thats the best way to go.

What is the controversy/difference youre talking about? is it to do with the notification shade?

Thanks again!

Your welcome.

Some think Xiaomi.eu should start using the official Global ROMs as raw material instead of the official China roms because of the better notifications.

The notifications were not working correctly for some time apparently.

I have not paid much attention to that, as the notifications aren't so important for me.

It isnt about stable build or not it is about cooked google support or not since in china google apps are banned so they dont include them in roms and when you install them manually there might be some bugs like notification delay. Also you can turn off MIUI optimization and problem solved.

My bad, corrected "stable" to "Global" in my post.

There are apparently different systems for notifications in official Global and official China.
I haven't bothered to dig into that.

I bought this device but both the lack of global support and the screen to body ratio was unfortunate for me.

Of course I was aware of that this phone wasn't bezel-less but still..

The bad thing about this phone is the small community, I can't even install a google camera or twrp completely bug free.

Otherwise is a great phone, the bezels sure could be smaller, but the phone (blue) is gorgeous, has a nice camera, awesome performance, good screen, battery...
