Is there a way to make the touch keys to blink for missed calls or received sms?

Is there a way to make the touch keys to blink for missed calls or received sms? An apk, a module, decompile/modify/compile a system apk? I am nostalgic about my nokia 6300's facility to blink two blue side leds for missed calls or received sms. It was a very useful function and I believe I was not the only one to appreciate it.

Does anyone know how to adapt this function to our S3 mini?

It's called button light notification,its a kerner "feature" in order to get it working you need custom kernel for the stock rom or custom rom. (most of the custom roms have BLC support enabled by default e.g. CM11/OMNI rom, slimkat, etc)
