hmmmmm

Well I just purchased a Verizon branded s10 plus. Popped in my tmobile sim and LTE works.

But for how long??? My tmobile sim works for 2 to 3 minutes then the network locked sim message pops up.

Seen your update. Thats great. I got the When a sim is installed not from verizon your phone will be unlocked, but still not working. Guess I will Odin back to Verizon firmware then see how it goes. Then do the U1 firmware again.

I activated a line with Verizon on my phone, it's been over 48 hours, and I'm still getting the locked message. This is ridiculous. I'm also running out of time to even exchange the phone with Samsung for an unlocked version. I'll try calling Verizon about it soon, but not expecting much. I've never had so much difficulty getting a phone to work, despite paying full price and direct from the manufacturer.

Finally got the phone unlocked. Called Verizon tech support again and was told there "must have been a system glitch" that locked my phone, despite paying in full. Unfortunately, they weren't willing to refund activation fees or the new line cost, so I essentially paid $50 because of a technical error that somehow multiple tech supports couldn't help with. Somehow I feel like tech support was ignoring the issue because I hadn't activate Verizon services on the phone the first time, and this time, after having an active line on the phone, they were willing to work with me immediately, knowing that I would still be paying for Verizon.

For future reference, no matter how much tech support insists that a phone is unlocked, if the phone is telling you to call Verizon and prevents other SIM cards from working......then it's still locked. Don't let any uninformed tech support tell you that your phone is the problem, or the other carriers are the problem. I don't know how many tech supports reminded me that GSM networks are different than CMDA, even though that difference doesn't apply to modern phones anymore, which can work on both GSM and CMDA.

This is why I've been buying unlocked straight from Samsung for several years. I learned to live without certain services but now everything works on S10+ (WiFi Calling, VoLTE, etc.), so I couldn't be happier. Verizon sucks ass as far as customer service and draconian rules but they still rule as far as service goes.

FYI.. The reason Verizon phones have been unlocked in recent years is because of a deal between them and the FCC when they acquired lowband spectrum. The deal of having the phones unlocked expired last year as far as I know because I remember there being articles mentioning that. That may be the reason why if you buy directly from Verizon the phones are locked.

Phones off of Samsung website are unlocked phones running carrier software so that's why those are unlocked by default.

Only problem with the Samsung unlocked models is they're always the last to get updates. I'll never understand that.

I called into Verizon two times both customer support agents said we don't lock phones, I don't see any locks on your account, your account looks good. Person transferred me over to Tier 2 support they knew right away phone was locked. Agent said since your device was paid in full we can unlock it took a few mins.

I'm having the same issue here. Bought it on Ebay and I live outside the US. The seller says he bought it factory unlocked and he'll help me out by calling Verizon, but I'm afraid he won't be able to have the same luck as you guys with the customer services agent.

I have the same message as all of you, I bought my phone in March through Samsung finance on Verizon. I was told phone was unlocked and clear to switch to Verizon. I have been on with tech support verizon, tmobile, Samsung all saying there is no proble. With them and call the other. I am going on day 3 of tmobile switch with my s10+ not working. My s8+ worked instantly.

+1. Exactly the same problem :(. Verizon said to wait for 60 days but since no account information left from previous owner I've no idea when the phone was activated on Verizon and how long should I wait. I checked IMEI, it's clean. Don't like this Verizon problems. Don't want to wait.

Same issue in Mexico. I received my device today, try with Movistar (Mexico) and the Horror message showed "Sorry, your device can´t be activated on another carrier´s network right now..." So based on recommendations I will wait 48 hours, does the chip needs to be inside?
Thanks!

VZW sim card, yes. But I wouldn't waste my time if I were you. Just flash the AT&T firmware and get on with your life.

Just received my S10+ a few hours ago. Purchased online through Verizon with device payments. This is probably my 8th Smart Phone purchase with device payments and never had one carrier lock before. My last 3 phones (Pixel 2 XL, iPhone XR, Note 9) have not been carrier locked what so ever even if they are financed.

Today shortly after activating and setting up the device, I pulled my Verizon SIM out and inserted my T-Mobile SIM like I've done many times before. I instantly got a message that said "Sorry, your device cant be activated on another carriers network right now."

Could this be Verizon Carrier locking the phone or is there an issue server side at Samsung?

The phone activated with no issues on Verizon's end, calls, messages, data all working fine.

The very first power ON was on Thursday around Noon with a T Moible SIM. The phone quickly rejected it and I installed the sim it came with. I messed around with it for a few hours until I gave up and just left the Verizon sim in it.

Today (sunday) I decided to try the T Mobile SIM around 4PM and noticed it was working so I posted an update.
