Issue #2: crazy battery behaviours

According to Accubattery I have 1042 mAh left in the battery.
And it tends to auto shut off whenever it reaches 44%.

Thankfully a battery replacement with a local shop is relatively cheap.
Battery replacement was a success. But the repair place killed my screen. (had it replaced for half price because of that)

Y'all might wanna do the iFixIt iOpener/Heat gun + guitar picks on the screen thing first.

My phone no longer holds a charge. Tried replacing it via geeksquad and they no longer have Moto Z's for replacement.
Currently looking for a new phone.

After only 10 months of "honorated" work, the battery of my Moto Z has already reduced it''s capacity from about 2700 mAh to less then 2000 mAh (both measured with Accubattery) and this is clearly showed in (a lot) reduced screen on time and total charge endurance. Ok.

BUT now it is showing a weird behaviour that I don't undestand....

If it is at a battery level under 30% or similar and I reboot it, it doesn't start anymore, showing the "too low battery" logo just after shutdown, even if without rebooting it would have worked for one or two more hours...

If I connect it to a charger it shows charging from the same % it has before trying to reboot it and I'm able to boot it. After booting, if I disconnect charger it will continue to work even until 2-3% of batterywith no issues... BUT if I try to restart it... no way again. :(

Any others with this behaviour? Any idea on how to fix this? Any idea on how to make boot more "tolerant" to low % of battery?
Exactly the same here.

I'm sick and tired of this behavior.

Just as @erfanoabdi sayd, the battery mod is the only way to keep an "admissible" use of the phone.

How did you fixed? I couldt find a replacement for battery on amazon...

Even more weird, if you try to turn on it in bootloader mode... it turns on. But if you select start system... :(

I've not fixed mine. It's dead. :crying:

I've bringed it to a repair center and they broke screen since of a bit thicker replace battery (I think...).

In Italy stock batteries are hard to find so they tried with an aftermarket that it's very common on eBay... but beware, because it is a bit thicker and is very hard to close phone after fitting it...

I bought a battery from AliExpress
Yesterday it's arrived and i replaced it
It's good for me
At least phone is usable, Not dying in 30% but drains fast :(

Yes, I know, it is very weird to see how come the phone turns on on bootloader, but if you try to boot, it say is drained.

If it is difficult to find stock battery in Italy, now imagine how hard is to do that in Colombia :(

I saw the video where it shows how to change the battery... There's no way to do that here.

The worst part is that my phone is out of guarantee with motorola (after just 10 months) because bootloader is unlocked.

I'm glad you could change the battery. I found some oem batteries on internet, but now that I know how risky is to change it, I have my doubts :s

It's a shame even if with a new battery, you don't get a good behavior.

They reports same fast drain on mine before crashing screen... it could be related to low quality replacement battery or since of calibrating issues... but I can't tell for sure since I never had the possibility to check it first hand...

If I'll find a screen replacement at a good price I woild try to repair it myself eventually...

Are you guys sure it's not anyhow ROM related? I mean suddenly bunch of moto Z users are experiencing battery drain and shut down at 30ish%? at the same time?

There is a similar post in Lenovo Oficial Forum (maybe some of you looked there too..): https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/Moto_Z/thread-id/2713/page/1

But they also did not find a solution... everyone is waiting for Oreo or a milagre...
Here, in Brazil, i saw a lot of cases (posted in Facebook) that the device was sent to repair (under warranty) and the person received a Moto Z2 Force back... I can't try it because my device is out of warranty :(

No "we" don't!! I and others posted it here and you and others always write something about changing batteries. That's simply not true, I never had problems and now since the 7.1.x update it crashes randomly at 30/40%. They did something wrong, that's a fact.

I am still waiting for a replacement phone. It's a month since they replaced the battery and broke bluetooth and NFC, and the third time i have sent the phone for official repair since September. I was offered a Z2 Play not a Z2 Force, so i asked for the wireless style shell as part of the replacement (it comes free in the UK, or did over Black Friday). I haven't even had the courtesy of a reply.

Has anyone noticed that after phone turns off (still having ~40%), it lost recent info?

I mean, if phone crash because battery failure, when I finally can turn it back on (charging phone), I find lost my recent whatsapp conversations, lost photos, app info, call records, etc.

I though it was ROM but keeps happening me using stock ROM, RR and MJ's Oreo.

my questions to everyone is reading this post : verizon guys doesn't have this issue?
anyone here have this issue with locked OEM bootloader (never unlocked)
I haven't read through the rest of the thread yet but I can confirm that this is happening on the Verizon version as well.
