It is weird, I made reset of the phone in recovery in twrp and cleared the cache and it works great now. The phone has now according to AccuBattery about 10 hours SOT or over 100 hours sleep time. It is very good now and I dont know exactly why.

But also, I disable instead of uninstalled some apps and that could have made a ddifference...

Anyway thanks for help!

Excellent👍
Congratulations, many users never get to this point to realize the full potential of their Samsung. Its hit or miss it seems but just keep playing with until you get it done.

It is a world of difference, no?
Yeah... blindly disabling apks doesn't seem to work well.
Once optimized these are fast, clean running, rock solid stable devices.
Don't update it at all and it will run well for a long time.

Is there any good guide how to optimize apps/processes usage? I've gone through couple of youtube tutorials (where you're advised to switch off basically everything) but it hasn't made much difference. Standby drain over night is constantly 6-7%.

Read my many posts on this.

Use Galaxy labs battery tracker to try to spot it.
Google play Services disabled? Turn off when not needed.
Kill Google backup Transport, Framework and all cloud apks.

Hi, I'm a newcomer. I just bought my S21 1 week ago.

The last message of this thread has been written in Nov 2021. Thus I think battery problems has been solved.

But I'm facing a big battery issue. I cannot get more than 4-5 hours of SOT. Especially google play services consumes more than %7-8 battery per day. Idle battery drain is a big problem. I just made a clean install. Just transfered the apps. That's it. I wiped the cache many times. Installed BBS and Gsam. My wi-fi, BT and location is always on. I also disabled LTE. Dark mode, no adaptive battery, suspended cached apps from developer options and so on. Everything tried. No solution. My previous phones (Mate 10 pro and Mi9T) had never such issues. They have same battery capacity.

My friend bought a S21 FE with me and he does not face any battery issue yet. He can get approx 8-9 h of SOT with 1 and a half day of stand by.

Is there any consensus for this idle battery issues?

Try disabling Google play Services temporarily especially at night. Google backup Transport uses a lot of battery. Any cloud service tends to as well.

I think nobody found how to decrease the battery consumption of the S21.

Endgame.

So to chip in, i had my S21 for a year now and the battery is the thing that holds this phone back since the beginning.
I tried literally everything one can think of - and i truly mean everything.
The absolute most SoT i have ever gotten on MY device was 5 hours and 23 minutes - running it with a microG patched GSI.

On OneUI i dont even reach 4 hours of SoT, no matter what i debloat and degooglefy.
Its a shame, its a great "small" phone but the battery on Exynos chips is dumpstertrash.

Luckily i got it from Amazon and i can send this piece of overpriced crap back.

I'm not sure if the idle battery drain is the chip's issue. My friend's S21 FE gets 9-10 hours of SOT. There must be another problem.

By the way I can say that SOT rates depends on the usage. If you use your phone frequently within a day, you'll get more SOT. But this phone's main problem is idle battery drain. The comparison for SOT should be made with same usage statistics.

Access screen off usage is likely being caused by Google and Samsung cloud backup; one reason why you want a SD card. Using cloud storage instead is a sick joke.
Google play Services. 3rd party trash apps. Google Firebase is another one. Gmail is forever polling as well. Playstore eats more than it should.

My N10+ was a hot running hog before it was optimized. Now it's puny battery does as good or better than the S22U. Scoped storage is some of the culprit.

Here's my latest score:

Battery left: %20
SOT: 4h 49m
Stand by: 1d 3h

Wifi - On
BT - On
Cellular - On
GPS - On
AOD - Off
120 Hz
No Dark Mode

S21 - Exynos

Is it good (decent) or bad?

Can confirm. My 3.5 year old OnePlus 5T with a 3200mAh battery got better battery life than a brand new Galaxy S21+ with a 4800mAh battery. 3 hours screen on time. I'm not impressed with the battery life so far to say the least...
Hi Robin. It looks like it has been a long time since you've had this problem. Can you confirm that it has been resolved? Thanks in advance.

Nope... I've just resorted to always carrying a power bank around and running the "device optimisation" from the settings every time the device starts lagging to the point that the touch screen is barely useable (i.e. multiple times a day).

Needless to say, I'll never be buying a Samsung device again. Sending out Snapdragon review units but selling barely functional Exynos devices should get them sued imo.

I have some observation after 1 month:

1) Bad gsm signal kills battery very quickly. Moreover, using gsm internet consume too much battery than wi-fi. The difference is very distinct. I can ge 6-7 hours with wifi but 4-4,5 hours with 4,5g or 3g. In my country there's no 5G but I'm pretty sure every new G tech consumes more battery than the previous one.

2) If you're using whatsapp web and let it open in your browser, the app tries to synchronize any time. You can accept to use beta program to reduce for whatsapp web browser consumption.

3) Pokemon Go 's Adventure Sync is also a big juice consumer. Close it if it's not crucial for you.

My setup is:

Wifi - always on
Mobile - always on
Bluetooth - always on
Location - always on
Adaptive Display - on

I recently bought a S21 (Exynos) and I'm overall happy with it, but the battery life isn't too great.

I often use timers (when washing clothes, cooking, etc.) and discovered, that the stock Clock app (from Samsung) drains the battery when I'm using a timer. 4h of timer just running in the background lead to 8% battery usage. Do you guys also have this problem?

I'll try Google's clock now, but generally I want to stick to the stock app because of it's integration with Bixby.

EDIT: Okay, a reboot seems to have fixed the battery drain of the clock. Maybe there was just something weird going on.

This is quite embarrassing. Flagship phone, people recommending to disable apps and switching a low tier network that's a decade old, not even enough for it to survive a day.

I'm taking my pitchforks to samsung hq.

I tipped the two biggest tech news sites in Norway about this issue. They actually posted article on this matter. They've been in contact with Samsung today, and Samsung said they are aware of the issue, and working on an update.

Meh, *****ing here does nothing. Y'all need to do what I did; play with it and work it out.
Find work arounds for the bad coding.
Had I not taken the -time- and trouble to do so my 10+ still be a battery hog.
Just gave you 3 or 4 good solutions. Devise your own... as each variant and user have their own unique issues and requirements.

Stock Androids are fun to play with... and almost crash proof.
Lol, a lot easier than doing regedits🤣
Battery life is bad with 4G turned on, so samsung should fix that, either they have some problem with baseband or they have wakelocks triggerd by 4G. With 3g battery life is pretty decent with bluetooth and gps on, 120hz and sync turned for all apps. What's the point of having smartphone and flagship if you have to turn off every functionality?

Last nights update for Exynos version seems ro have fixed the battery life for me. I am back from work and I have 50% battery with 3.5h SOT.

I have put my screen back up to WQHD and switched on AOD now. Hope it remains this good in the upcoming days :)
