It would seem the later batches are worse

How have people had January manufactured devices if they still don't have old stock?
Google has multiple warehouses, and apparently the one mine was sent from still had November units in stock at the end of March, when I made the purchase.

Variation such as partial yellow tint and bad sensors isn't acceptable. I think we can both agree on that. But I won't travel down the road of useless speculation here, because it doesn't matter who is responsible. What matters is that the issue is resolved.

I got a new device from 10th January 2018 just some days ago.

Problems so far:
- Adaptive brightness is jumpy and unsmooth. I guess software bug. IDK
- My Display has an intense blue shift when looking at it from ankles, starts pretty early when changing view
- The device charges the battery rather slow. Coming from OnePlus with dash charge I thought fastcharge would be OK too, but it feels slow
- The device gets like 40°C hot when testing VR on Daydream

1. Android P would fix it as it has logarithmic brightness.
2. Even iphone x has it. My device does have a slight shift.
3. Dash charge charges at 20W while google has capped it at 10.5W when screen off.
4. Not tested VR.

I have a Feb 28th and the screen is perfect, before that I had a Nov 22 and Dec 27 and both screens were washed out and bad blue tint. This one has minimal blue tint and the screen is awesome! Case in point the later build is definitely better.

I got a RMA yesterday for a faulty unit (USB data transfer stopped working entirely on every computers so no more ADB, charging was a hit-and-miss with C to A cables that previously worked, the stock charger/cable weren't working at all, DP4 wouldn't install and failed repeatedly)

Hope my replacement unit will be ok... the phone I just returned was perfect (until the USB connector or controller died on me. Seems to be a recurrent issue with that phone judging by all the threads I've found online describing the exact same problem)...

Were you running stock when it stopped working?

Yep stock, unrooted and bootloader not even unlocked

I'm assuming they're sending me a refurbished unit, the build date is November 6th according to the IMEI (older than my first phone)... I have the feeling they'll try to give me a lemon that was returned for screen issues. That phone is 9 months old and still hasn't found an owner who decided to keep it? I'm suspicious...

1. That's nice. Thanks for the info
2. I do not care about the iPhone X. I care about Pixel 2 XL - the phone that costs 1000$ which has a blue shift display. The OnePlus 5T costs only the half and has no blue shift and better colors. So screw LG and their bs.
3. I see. Thanks.
4. The VR experience itself is awesome IMO. Hope the heat does no long term damages.

You're missing the point. ALL devices with AMOLED displays have blue shift, regardless of whether it is Samsung or LG who makes the panel. The 5T if I recall correctly uses an IPS LCD, so of course it won't have blue shift. The 6 on the other hand will.

P. S. The iCrap X also costs 1000USD. Price has no bearing on the discussion.

. . . . I understand everyone's concern regarding the blue tint. I myself see the blue tint on my screen, but I found it to not be troublesome enough to return the device. After all, my Nexus 6 using a Samsung panel exhibits the same tinting to the same degree when holding the screen at an angle to sight. My Galaxy S4 prior to that with (at the time) Samsung's best AMOLED screen also exhibits the same tinting, though in that case the tinting is more pronounced being an older display. . . . .
Exactly my point . . . had the same experience with S4 and S8+.
OK, I did RMA (3 months ago) once due to broken proximity sensor after updating it to 8.1. The new one was factory sealed, untuched, and it is great ever since. Production date was November 8th (Panda 128 GB).

Then it too will have blue shift. The inferior resolution of the 5T screen won't be doing it any favors either, and may make the blue shift as bad as on my Galaxy S4, which has the same resolution screen but in a 5" size.
The 5t is definitely worse quality. I had 5 replacements ...all of them had uneven tints looking straight on.. I was avoiding the pixel for the screen "problems" but couldn't find a phone I was as happy with as the OG pixel XL. So I thought forget it I'm getting the pixel 2 XL and deciding for myself. .. screen is fine. Even balance etc. Blue shift? What blue shift? I never use it an angle. Few months on still happy with the phone and so glad I got one

Most likely yes. I was only correcting you about the screen. I had a 3T last year, my first and most likely last one plus device. I prefer a Google device. My first XL had burn in quickly and more of a blue shift. My replacement has been great. Slight blue shift but I don't notice it.
