Still having problems. Fresh windows 8 install, running as admin with Java.
I tried to restore the phone via Odin to retry this but Odin fails on sboot.bin.
Any ideas?

I also tried your old method here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2043636 which originally worked just fine and I even did it on Windows XP but it now gets stuck on sboot.bin as well.

I feel like this phone is toast.

Windows 8, see there's your problem :p

When your phone goes into download mode run the CADI from this zip.

Many thanks to Ralekdev, AdamOutler, and jrloper. Your hard work is appreciated. You don't have to do this kind of stuff but you do and it is pure awesomesauce.

So It work like a charm for me. You most likely will not have the same set up but this is what I did.

I prepared. This stuff may not have helped out at all. I just want to reduce as many variables before I tried it to lower the risk of failure.

Running Win 7 pro 64.
Phone is bone stock with VRAMC3, have never rooted or unlocked it. (Actually just became a proud owner of the Note 2 on May 3nd. Ugg it snuck the update in on me.)

_____________________

I made sure Java was fully updated, both 32 and 64 bit.

Installed Kies.

Connected (I used the usb cable that came with the note 2) Note 2 to computer(motherboard/back-- USB port)let if find all the drivers. It found 6 different things to install drivers.

Used cmd prompt and used the command "adb reboot download".

Let windows find drivers. Reboot phone.

I ran msconfig and shut everything off -Services Tab (select hide Microsoft services) then disable all/ Startup Tab disable all and I left kies selected(I don't know why I left it running but just in case)

Rebooted Computer.

Disconnected phone.

Once computer was back up verified nothing but windows was running. Avast was still running. So I disabled shields for an hour and select silent/gaming mode.

Downloaded and checked md5 hash of Casual, passed.

Ran Casual

Connected phone.

Phone detected.

Clicked do it.

About 4 minutes later I was rooted and unlocked.

Thanks very much for this. It is very nice that I can make my phone exactly how I want it.

I think my problem was Windows 8 not playing nice with my USB ports and the drivers.

I used my Wife's Vista laptop and it worked on the 2nd try. Thanks for the tool, and the quick responses for help!
Yeah... some USB ports are just made funky. Most USB devices have error correction built in. Download Mode does not. It really tells you the condiition of your cables and ports on your computer. 99% of people would never know if they had bad USB voltages or what not until they use Odn or Heimdall with a Galaxy device.

I'm glad to hear it worked. Did Windows 8 pop up a big red bar for you?

I'll try to describe it as best possible. I had the GN before this and never had a problem with Odin on my computer, but then again, I was on Windows 7 when I first rooted it, so I think W8 may be the problem.

I have 4 USB ports on my laptop, 1 is made differently. That one would work, but when it got in D/L mode all these errors would hit., that is the one that I pastebined, also, Windows would detect the device twice, once as an "Installer" then again as SCH-I605. Not just the first time I plugged it in, but every time it was plugged in, not something I'd seen it do before. The other 3 originally would detect it until it got D/L mode then it would just CADI loop and say no target device found.

After trying to reinstall the Samsung Driver, the 1 USB port would do the same things, but Casual wouldn't detect it on the other 3.

The lesson learned is probably don't upgrade to W8 unless you're a masochist.

Still the same problem... Like I mentioned above I cant flash a stock odin image without it failing of sboot.bin. Could this be a huge problem as to why Casual wont work?

Jrloper thanks for the help man but that still didnt work. After Casual reboots into download mode it gets stuck on installing drivers. So I open up that program you posted above, it says success but Casual keeps looping back to installing driver.

Use Zadig I guess then with your phone in download mode.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/libwdi/files/zadig/zadig_v2.0.1.160.7z/download

Options->List All Devices
Select "Gadget Serial" from the dropdown
Click Replace driver

Retry CASUAL.

Also get PM me a link to your newest log, I have to get this CADI issue with Windows 8 figured out.

ForeverSupra looks like you and I were in the same problem with failing at sbin part of casual. I just did the same thing you did with running zadig and retrying trying casual and BAM unlocked with TWRP. Thanks for all the Devs in here worked so hard to get this going and smacking Verizon in the face lol.
