Casual only works with 4.2.1 and below. There is a root method for 4.4.2 in the general section, but there isn't a bootloader unlock method for 4.3 and up.

Merry X-Mas Everybody! Do u have the samsung mobile drivers installed did you go to developers options and check the usb debugging and have a usb cable that is good I followed all the directions in the op my 1st time and it failed so I finally figured it out I had to disable my anti virus software on my laptop then it worked like a charm I hope this helps I forgot also make sure you have java on your pc

You probably know how to do this already... but I'll post in case you (or others don't). I personally had trouble with Windows Defender running in the background when I first tried Casual. I had to start the Windows Task Manager and manually stop Windows Defender Service to prevent it from deleting the exploit.

So in addition to temporarily turning off the main antivirus program on your computer, you can stop Windows Defender by opening up the Windows Task Manger and going to Processes tab, then click on "Show processes from all users", Next go to the Services tab and go to WinDefend --then right click on it and "Stop Service." ( I uploaded some pictures for reference if needed). Good luck!!

Thanks for this.. I turned off Defender when I first got this laptop. However that does not mean it is not still running in services and processes. Every bit helps.

Thanks to manbat and mattnmag my note 2 is now rooted and unlocked. In addition to shutting off all antivirus I had to re install the noyouverizon casual program. I tried to run it after the antivirus shutdown and it still did not work. I deleted it and started over with a fresh download with antivirus off. Success...... I suspect the antivirus corrupted a part of the initial download. Anyway, all is well. Thanks again....

You are correct...you can root it thru other means though. ...ghetto root I believe. And safestrap for recovery....search for the two. It will allow touchwiz based custom roms....no custom kernels though....

Yeah I had that feeling. Getting a used Note 2 soon sadly it's on 4.4.2 and I'm pretty sure there is no way one could revert it back to say 4.3 or whatever so.... Safe Strap it is.

Apart from simply buying an unlocked VZ Note 2(which would be stupid with all the newer phones out), is there a hardware fix for those units that are post 4.1? I imagine there is a chip that contains the bootloader that perhaps can be swapped up with a soldering iron and a steady hand.

I don't know. The note 2 is still a powerful phone. And 5.02 runs lightning fast. And it would be a very inexpensive option compared to buying a newer phone.

And I've read there's some folks that that can downgrade the phone too.

But if you are past 4.3 then your options are very limited.

So Verizon is pushing 5.02 to the Note 2? I don't think they are. As for the downgrading I think they do it via a reprogramming of an onboard chip with proprietary equipment.
