CASUAL is apparently having a problem issuing a shell command to install the driver.

With your phone in Download/Odin mode.

Run Zadig
http://sourceforge.net/projects/libwdi/files/zadig/zadig_v2.0.1.160.7z/download

Options->List All Devices
Select "Gadget Serial" from the dropdown
Click Replace driver

Retry CASUAL.

Yeah, did that.
So I was able to get the JB stock ROM to install, then did OTA to LL4 and then OTA to MC3, but
after it installed the MC3, it is stuck on a boot-loop.
Now when I try to flash again in ODIN, to fails:
Get PIT for mapping,
Firmware update start,
boot.img
NAND write start
FAIL.

this happened to me when I restored back to original rom but bootloader was locked. for me it wound up being sboot that was causing nand tofail..I had to search for stock rom without sboot to fix the issue...there is a link somewhere on xda..hope someone can find it..im pretty sure its the sboot in the rom you are trying to flash that is causing it to fail..hope this helps

I know when I had issues with mine I ran that zadig and re ran casual and everything went great. Especially if your running windows 8.

Congratulations! You're CASUAL Commit 500! You win absolutely nothing!!!!!

In all seriousness, CASUAL cannot currently handle spaces in names. I recommend creating a new account on that computer with a single word name... like K or M... Actually, it's bad practice to have two people sharing an account because if one downloads a torrent, the feds will come after both anyway.

Just change your username to a single word.. K&M would even work, just no spaces. It will be fixed in the next release.

Looks like either driver installation triggered Odin Mode on your device or it wasnt ready... It happens randomly after installing drivers on Windows. Try it again.. Its Windows

You can accept them, but they wont apply. Don't try it. Use a custom ROM.

That makes a lot of sense now that you brought it to light. Same as renaming a nandroid with a space in the name will (used to) cause it to fail.

Test build of CASUAL, containing a new driver installer and a new method of executing the installer .


What will happen?

1. You'll go through a series of feature testing prompts (just follow along)
2. Your device will be rebooted into Download mode
3. A driver will be installed (libusbK)
4. Heimdall will reboot your device.
5. CASUAL will prompt you to send the log to pastebin.
6. PM me the log URL

It was failing at the boot.img, which is before the sboot.
But I was able to do the alternate restore with the Pit File, and was able to get back to the original JB rom. Then did the OTA to LL4 and MC3, and this time after MC3 installed, it booted just fine (when before it got stuck and boot-looped).

Now have it rooted and unlocked.

Nice... I've never seen an ADB protocol error before. I suppose we need to catch that. I will put something in to CASUAL to attempt a rerun of a command.
