Completely agree, Quarx imho made a big mistake opening a thread and releasing a pre alpha build :(
Seriously, these first builds will be made just to be sure that the basic functions may work, he knows better and before us that panorama/audio/video ecc ecc is not working, please all let's not turn this thread (too!) in a complete mess.
What???Are you serious??? Do you know what testing means??? Pre-alpha was meant just to test if JB can (at least!) boot over DEFY. So,i can't see why is that pointless...

Anyway,

@Quarx, can you check this JB nightly from XOOM develop to see if audio libs can make the difference???? http://goo.im/devs/teameos/roms/eos3/nightlies/wingray/EOS-wingray-20120714-119.zip

My spider instincts tell me that the audio lib are too tied to the underneath SoC, so other audiolibs are useless.

I didn't mean to just copy the file, I mean look into the file (decompile, edit and recompile) to check if that can work since are functional in other Motorola devices...

Fully working AOSP JB for Nexus S is out, so that should get audio for Defy working in few days (dunno how much timee does Quarx has)

Swyped off my Amazing Defy using ICS

It's useless my friend. 'Cause we want "moto libaudio", it's kinda like "drivers" for the Defy sound, thing that the Nexus doesn't have.

Is not that simple, also, I don't think there is any free and good decompiler to C++ code, and I don't think that looking at ASM code will be helpfull, (unless Quarx is a ARM ASM god genius)

Exactly.

Anyway, would be nice to know what Quarx thinks :p, if we can use the libs from another device, if a warpper would do, if its the end of the defy (?)

lol when I think the development for defy is over, quarx comes and show that there is much more to do with defy, so...yes, I think he's kind of genius.

I also believe that will be more productive to work over jb files from others phones with omap 36xx (like optimus black) but currently there is no such thing on those devices, so for now we have to check for those files on Motorola devices with functional jb builds, but I'm wait for quarx to prove us wrong and show another workaround

Actually, the Xoom developers who are making a custom rom may help, they have some source code that can help quarx.

And remember: Even ICS isn't official for our devices. How Quarx, Eppy and others managed to put sound on it? Using moto libaudio from other devices.

Well, maybe because ICS didn't break backwards compatibility with the sound drivers of froyo and gingerbread? anyway, I was just speculating, I do have faith in Quarx.

Well I have tried about 5-6 custom ICS and GB roms on my defy+ and every-time after using them for 1-2 days I again switch back to whiterabbit.

I don't give a crap for the animation and sparkles on my phone, I just need it to be responsive, smooth and fast with necessary features. I think whiterabbit serves this purpose very well.

I'll test this JB build as well, if its responsive enough as whiterabbit, may be I will use it as everyday rom.

Anyway, its just my personal opinion.

Thanks for the hard work to the developers

You call hundreds of noobs asking why this isn't 100% working testers? Really???
I would prefer a cleaner thread without stupid questions, so i think it would have been better to wait.
As he stated in the op he knows yet most of what these "testers" are reporting..so, still think is usefull to report that the video rec or panorama is not working, when he's probably the first to flash a new build and verify which basic function is ok or is not?
Reporting will be more usefull when the build gets more complete, or when we found a new bug, not when Quarx is still tuning the very first builds.

what the hell is going on in this thread. and why are 100 noobs not better than no one testing at all. Here I pm'ed the guy who got the audio working on HTC's HD2 and he gave me this link.:D

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28791925&postcount=53

Fron the looks of it, it just seems to be a configuration problem and many devices are facing an audio glitch in Jelly bean. Now even I don't know how to code, but I am trying so that I can help out here.

@Quarx: Please have a look at the link above. I did try and install the audiofix zip file (yueah I know stupid thing to do) but at least no boot loops. it booted in but still no audio (lol.... I know its obvious). also the ums app worked.
thanks to this audio problem at least I finally learnt to use ADB.
