This update is the kernel + ramdisk or only ramdisk? (I'm going to update other Defy with this, but it doesn't have the V2 update.)

Hi Walter....could you please upload all the relevant files....an update.zip would be good...thanks.
@kapil_dheer

find the two files from walter attached to this post and just do as he says:

"/system/bin/battd and /system/lib/libbattd.so
AND wipe all files /data/battd + reboot"

so here is what i did:
- replace the two files attached to this post using root explorer: /system/bin/battd and /system/lib/libbattd.so
- set the right permissions using root explorer
- wipe battery stats using battery calibrator app
- reboot
Well done microphone!

However, i made a CWM flashable zip with all libs (libbattd.so and libril-moto-umts-1.so) and the binary from ms2ginger v4.0 and auto wipe /data/battd files. I hope it help you, guys!

EDIT:

this v3 update has kernel + ramdisk

Installed the 18.10 build this morning with a few hickups but eventually I got it to work. I have a defy525 green lens with 28.09 cm10 on it. It was slugish as hell and I could not by any way raise the max processor speed, as it was stuck on 0... pissed me off for a few hours then I saw the v3 update which after installing it had fixed my max speed issue. Other than that I found no problems with it so far. Will be testing the hell out of it anyway these days and I will come back with any problems I might encounter.

tl;dr good job quarx it's wonderful !

EDIT : I get the "android is upgrading : starting apps" screen every time I reboot the device... It's only a mild annoyance cause it only lasts for a few seconds but I am curious as to why I might be getting this. Anyone have any clue where to start searching for the *obvious* mistake I have done...

When I started to flash your zip my battery was 48%, after flash it's 64% :good:

Will wait till next 48% and flash again. Good bye charger :D

All hail Quarx!

Question - Does anyone else have problems with developer settings not working and some other settings not staying after a reboot??

Same here with developer settings. For instance the USB debugging is always on, no matter how many times you wipe and re-wipe cache partition, dalvnik or data before and after installing the new custom ROMs. It doesn't help having the stock ROM with the USB debugging on or off either.

Another option that always comes back to an original state is the one of the ringtone related to vibration. If you have vibration activated in addition to the sound of ringtones or notifications and you reboot, you will have the sound of ringtones active without the vibration activated.

I have Defy MB525 with red lens.

Well... Navigating through my phone now... I don't know if it's me. But performance is monster. More than the v2 update.

certainly not... they're for the battery (not Defy Plus)

Edit: I see there's a RIL thrown into Espaciosalter20's zip too, maybe it helps with data but i think its purely a test to reduce battery consumption
ok thanks.. so I shouldn't install them I think and just stay with quarx's update.. (I'm on defy+)

I have a question. Can I charge my defy+ with adapter HTC output 5V - 1A (my defy+ adapter output 5.1V - 850 mA) ?
u can, I had a second part charger with same voltage for daily use, it charge a bit faster. only the battery dies more if u charge it daily with that voltage. but a original battery for the defy is cheap in Germany (10€) that's why i don't care ;)
