Look, no offence mate, but you are turning this thread into general Q & A one. Go to the real Question & Answer subforum and seek advice there.Hi Chasmodo, if I want to update Stock ICS ROM (found from Sammobile available in my region), do I need to flash back Stock kernel first (from XDA thread) same as my current ROM version?
I connected to Samsung KIES & it shows "Your device does not support software upgrading via Kies". Possibly due to custom kernel, I guess.
My apologise, mate. Because I'm using Notecore kernel as posted by you here, thus, I think you may help on this. Nevertheless, I will get advice from Q&A subforum there. Thanks.Look, no offence mate, but you are turning this thread into general Q & A one. Go to the real Question & Answer subforum and seek advice there.
I suggest you try a different 'modem.bin' file first. You can easily download and flash the modem from latest Stock ROM for your country....Hi, I have Stock ICS ROM (DXLR2 in my S.E.A. region) installed. Currently I've rooted using CWM (blue touch UI) & SU files.
Anyway, my Note seems to heat up easily (even before rooting as well) to 45 Degree Celsius after surfing web for just few minutes. And, I can feel the back is warmer around the camera area. Of course, battery consumes faster too due to high temp.
My concern : is this related to Stock Kernel? If I flash custom ICS kernel, would it help to improve? If so, which custom kernel do you recommend? Thanks
P/S : I prefer to use Stock ROM first, and willing to change custom kernel if it could help.

Hi, thanks for your suggestion. Is this modem.bin a standalone file?I suggest you try a different 'modem.bin' file first. You can easily download and flash the modem from latest Stock ROM for your country....
I had the heating issue you mention while I was on CM9 ROM and LRB baseband.
I downloaded and flashed the LP4 'modem.bin' file from Stock ICS 4.0.3 DDLP8 ROM for India and now am fine... No heating and good battery life.

Noted on your advice. Please do not discuss things that are out of the scope of this thread here, or I will be forced to report it.
There was just one kernel when I first posted the link, now there are six of them. And all are the existing kernels published here.Hope u put it back in, because that are also Kernels for ICS and CM, only changed for Dual Boot from chuandinh.
Excuse me, I am having issues with this kernel.Asylum-insanity-kernel-cm10.zip posted in the OP.
It is the same kernel as beastmodeR1, but with added 1.6 OC
I can confirm that I'm running it with PA v1.3 without any problems so far. Playing around with the different governors and so far I've had no issues just from the new kernel.Excuse me, I am having issues with this kernel.
I am on [JB]PA v1.3 and when I flash this kernel all I get is a blank screen.
I run the JBroid cleaning script before flashing kernel with no success...
Can anybody confirm it works ok with [JB]PA v1.3 ?
running on the nightlies, no issues so farAsylum-insanity-kernel-cm10.zip posted in the OP.
