Chas,

Kernel CM9.0.0 derived from final stable release... is it known safe for nandroid backup and restore. Asking this as I plan to keep only this Cm kernel on my SD card as insurance (hope no asylum inmate is watching me as I am talking nandroids ;))
To tell you the truth I don['t know Sunny. I was already on Asylum JB when I extracted it so I couldn't test it.

However I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work for nandroid purposes; 20120731 and 20120806 did work for me, and I doubt that CM team managed to botch up something in the newer versions.

Stick to 0731 or 0806 if you want to be absolutely sure.

Hi Chasmodo, if I want to update Stock ICS ROM (found from Sammobile available in my region), do I need to flash back Stock kernel first (from XDA thread) same as my current ROM version?

I connected to Samsung KIES & it shows "Your device does not support software upgrading via Kies". Possibly due to custom kernel, I guess.

Look, no offence mate, but you are turning this thread into general Q & A one. Go to the real Question & Answer subforum and seek advice there.

My apologise, mate. Because I'm using Notecore kernel as posted by you here, thus, I think you may help on this. Nevertheless, I will get advice from Q&A subforum there. Thanks.

Hi, I have Stock ICS ROM (DXLR2 in my S.E.A. region) installed. Currently I've rooted using CWM (blue touch UI) & SU files.

Anyway, my Note seems to heat up easily (even before rooting as well) to 45 Degree Celsius after surfing web for just few minutes. And, I can feel the back is warmer around the camera area. Of course, battery consumes faster too due to high temp.

My concern : is this related to Stock Kernel? If I flash custom ICS kernel, would it help to improve? If so, which custom kernel do you recommend? Thanks:)

P/S : I prefer to use Stock ROM first, and willing to change custom kernel if it could help.

I suggest you try a different 'modem.bin' file first. You can easily download and flash the modem from latest Stock ROM for your country....
I had the heating issue you mention while I was on CM9 ROM and LRB baseband.
I downloaded and flashed the LP4 'modem.bin' file from Stock ICS 4.0.3 DDLP8 ROM for India and now am fine... No heating and good battery life.

Hi, thanks for your suggestion. Is this modem.bin a standalone file?

Because when I download a Stock ROM for my region, I got only one file with .tar.md5 extension.

Dear Chasmodo,

why u deleted the section of Dual Boot Kernels for the Dual Boot Scripts of chuandinh?
I posted u the suggestion at once after u started the thread.
The link is still in the third post.

Hope u put it back in, because that are also Kernels for ICS and CM, only changed for Dual Boot from chuandinh.

Thanks in advance.

There was just one kernel when I first posted the link, now there are six of them. And all are the existing kernels published here.

Plus, they would have to be scattered all over the OP because some are TW, some are CM9, and one is CM10.

An afterthought: I could post a link to the OP of the dual boot thread instead of the individual links.

EDITED: Done.

issues with Asylum-insanity-kernel-cm10.zip

Asylum-insanity-kernel-cm10.zip posted in the OP.

It is the same kernel as beastmodeR1, but with added 1.6 OC
Excuse me, I am having issues with this kernel.

I am on [JB]PA v1.3 and when I flash this kernel all I get is a blank screen.
I run the JBroid cleaning script before flashing kernel with no success...

Can anybody confirm it works ok with [JB]PA v1.3 ?

It should run on PA 1.3 with no problem, because it is basically the same as Asylum-Beastmode-R1-CM10.zip, which has been flashed with success by many PA users. The only difference between the two kernels is that Insanity has OC and Beastmode hasn't.

Try wiping cache and dalvik after the flash.

I can confirm that I'm running it with PA v1.3 without any problems so far. Playing around with the different governors and so far I've had no issues just from the new kernel.
