It was released for about 2 minute, until the first question I got after being clear i wasnt going to support it in any way was "how do i use this to install su". It became clear I Was going to be bombarded with questions on it. It was a tool that could gain root, it didnt install TWRP, SU or really do anything different, it requires more work on top of it to be useful for root as the XDA community knows root. I pulled it, CodeFire has an alternative that is more mature it seems.
Mind sending it to me? I promise not to ask any questions or redistribute it. I just want to be able to edit my build prop.

I do mind, because you already didn't read and understand what I said. You more or less just said "I jsut want to soft brick my phone". by your comment about editing your build prop.

Its being shared at this time

Basically, your tool gains root and the user could then push the su binaries thus retaining root. Additionally, one could 'flash' twrp using the dd method from the /exec commend within your program.

Mr. Case, could you tell me if that sounds about right? if, so pushing the su binaries and tinkering with system would not result in a soft-brick unless one did something silly :). Thanks in advance if you do choose to reply to me :)

Lastly, to have backup if one did soft-brick prior to anything else one should disable dm-verity with root priv, boot twrp wipe (go through first boot/setup) and create a backup. I'm no dev but I believe my understanding is sound...

Just a thought maybe a stock system.img with root baked in and flashing it via twrp

dd bs=8M if=/external_sd/system.img.ext4 of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/system

is what is needed :)

You are wrong, and this is the reason i dont want it out, people make assumptions and its going to cost people phones. The reality is, that researchers can't release pieces of work if they are just not utterly complete anymore. Its not putting down anyone, it is just the reality of things. People will make assumptions, brick phones, and blame us.

Well said, sir! Thank you response and while I may not like your reply I fully respect and understand the reasoning behind it. I'd love to do what you do but would dislike the lack of understanding a novice such as myself may have or misinterpret. :)

So... It's been a year so far and no root. The phone is not my daily driver and is ready for bricking. Have tried bricking it many ways now and have not come up with a solution. Also worked with the adb/shell root testing when I was on antirollback 0 so not really worried about the phone breaking. Any chance of trying to brick it again? Don't really care about the whole support deal just can't get the kdz file I'm working on back into KDZ format for a method I am working on and wanted to try it from a different approach.

Attn MODS: Not trying to start the blunder of 2016 again by asking this question just putting an extra device in the fire.
