Would like to know this as well
I'm downloading it now, I'm from UK. Will let you guys know what happens. Shouldn't be too much longer before I know :)

It does have US at the beginning of the file name so I'm not exactly confident

I've got the zip, I'm not rooted or anything so how the hell do I install it?

Easy just go to download the zip file and inside that, there is going to be another zip file. Transfer the internal zip file to the internal memory and then reboot. It will boot up with a notification next to the clock. You start the update from there and then just let it install.

I did it on mine and its soooo much faster and smoother. Love it!!
This way apparently :)

I would assume it functions like any other stock Asus firmware, you should be able to flash the extracted zip file using twrp.

Tried on sd card and internal storage, just doesn't do anything at all apart from reboot normally, no notification

Yes, that way explained earlier makes no sense. It doesn't look for a file in the root of your storage. You would have to put it in a certain folder I would imagine. Or flash it using twrp.

Does this twrp involve rooting? Haven't done much looking into rooting it etc yet

You will only get a notification if you have stock recovery and an untouched build prop. Once you download and extract the zip, flash it with your custom recovery. TWRP or CWM.

I copied it to the root of my internal storage and my tablet immediately told me a system update was available. Tapped it and the update started. Did not have to reboot to get the tablet to see the update file.

i used the method as describe and it worked perfectly. i removed the internal zip and copied it to the root of the internal memory, rebooted the tablet and a message in the notification appeared. when i started it, i was taken to twrp and saw the option to flash the update. i lost root and followed the steps as outlined from # 3 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30516010 and i regained root. i'm on an unlocked bootloader. the only gripe i have is that everytime i reboot the tablet android is updating but it's extremely minor. i hope u guys can get it working. i'm pleased w/ the results of this new update.
