Hello guys and happy new year!
My best friend bought yesterday the "Sony Xperia Tablet S" and he updated to latest official firmware (Europe, Greece) and then he came to me and asked me if i can root it for him. Is it doable to root it now that it has the latest FW? If its not can you please tell what steps i need to do to root it.

Thanks

R6b is the latest and is not root able yet. Likewise R6a for Xperia and R5a for orginal tab is not root able. Jelly bean is out in half Feb. Perhaps we will find a new hole then.

Thanks i will tell him that. He shouldn't have rushed to update but i guess he was overjoyed with the tablet and he did the update and now can't root it :p

New user and also upgraded to 6b :(
I miss my root options. Is it possible to downgrade in a earlier rooted version?

I tried to read some posts but it seems very difficult to understand!

It isnt possible to downroot.

We must wait for Jelly Bean release (which will be in the next week or so)

So I believe there is no way to flash an older official firmware using recovery mode or a flash tool?

This is my first tablet and I was used to change firmware easely on my mobile phones!

THIS THREAD IS ABOUT UPDATE LINKS, and this TOPIC has been covered ALOT.
Not without root. No flash tool. THESE TABLETS ARE MADE BY SONY AND NOT SONY MOBILE, hence we having NO development options, rumor has it that new coming tablet Xperia Z is developed by SONY MOBILE hence some developing options.

Re: NEW Update Links Inc Tablet S/P R5A & Xperia S R6b :D

I think there is no difference between Sony or Sony mobile. Its a tegra based tablet with android, not an Intel chipset, we need good devs only. Thats all.

There is a big difference. Sony Mobile is an other part of the company, run by other people. They promote open source usage und even provide unlock tools, guides to unlocking bootloaders, kernel sources etc.

Doesnt matter. The Motorola Defy has a custom kernel now, without any support, help or similar from Motorola.
