My best friend bought yesterday the "Sony Xperia Tablet S" and he updated to latest official firmware (Europe, Greece) and then he came to me and asked me if i can root it for him. Is it doable to root it now that it has the latest FW? If its not can you please tell what steps i need to do to root it.
Thanks

Yes, the files are not normal zip files, they are encrypted files which cannot be opened with 7zip, WinRAR, etc.Is it normal that every time I tried to open the zip file, it gives me an error about the file is in unknown format?

This tool has an option : Flash Prerooted Firmware 4.0.3.6b For Xperia Tablet S
THIS THREAD IS ABOUT UPDATE LINKS, and this TOPIC has been covered ALOT.So I believe there is no way to flash an older official firmware using recovery mode or a flash tool?
This is my first tablet and I was used to change firmware easely on my mobile phones!
There is a big difference. Sony Mobile is an other part of the company, run by other people. They promote open source usage und even provide unlock tools, guides to unlocking bootloaders, kernel sources etc.I think there is no difference between Sony or Sony mobile. Its a tegra based tablet with android, not an Intel chipset, we need good devs only. Thats all.

Doesnt matter. The Motorola Defy has a custom kernel now, without any support, help or similar from Motorola. There is a big difference.
