Yes you can download on PC also there is another 4.03 Release 1a (R1A). But sort that out after. So download 4.0.3 on PC for now and leave off tablet to be safe.

Here is the link for HC 3.2.1

http://www.4shared.com/zip/03dah__B/signed-nbx03_001-ota-0042001.html (thanks to condi, found it in his AIO thread)

Follow instructions there:

Hi,

I'm in 4.0.3 prerooted with AIO

I've just downloaded R1A from the first post (Portugal) and i have a doubt: in order to have 4.0.3 R1a i have to go back to HC and only after i can install prerooted 4.0.3 R1a.

At the moment, when i try to run yhe decrypt process i get a message that my device is not rooted!!!???

I'd appreciate some help

Thanks

Hi, it shouldn't matter especially since you have root. Mine updated OTA and I don't have root. In saying that your symptoms are weird. You could downgrade to 3.2.1 (if you have the file and it is a safe kernel). But you shouln't have to. Are you using AIO v4.0? v4.1 is a bit buggy.
Also if you do have the 3.2.1 safe kernel for your region can you please please upload and share link here so I can add to OP.

Thanks

I was abble to upgrade from prerooted 4.0.3 to rooted release 1a with AIO tools.
I don't know exactly what the problem was but when i changed from PC it maneged to work flawlessly.

Now i have 4.0.3 R1a rooted but the kernel is #10. Is this normal?

Thanks

Yeh thats fine. Someone could even have 3.2.1R2 kernel 10 if it was prerooted. the kernel 10 issue is only with inital rooting. It can still be prerooted lol. The kernel 10 3.2.1R2 and above ICS 4.0.3 and R1A have been patched (logs folder premissions removed) hence the original root method does'nt work.

is there any for tablet p 3.2.1 UK wifi+3g version?
i'm bit lost in here.
Thanks for asking here. Did you find your nbx number? Download file manager and navigate to system folder and open build.prop with a text program.

P.s what version are you currently using?

got a little problem here... bricked my devixe by accidentily taking away root with condis tool. (i bricked it more or less after stupidly doing a hw-reset) im on 4.0.3 , the first on and i do own the wifi+3g 16 gb model.

Since i dont have a backdoor anymore (cause of the hw-reset) my modified zip doesnt work....
Can someone with the german model help me out by tossing me a pm with a working prerooted , Recovery-friendly , prerooted zip of the r1a update?

this one : signed-nbx03_008-ota-120803065.zip (but prerooted)

thx in advance ;)

I do not believe what you are attempting to do can be done.

To be able to update your tablet with a custom_update_signed.zip file (which is what you're asking to be PMed to you), you must first update your tablet with an install.zip (aka _hack_recovery.zip) file just prior to updating with the custom_update_signed.zip file. That is because the install.zip file is used to force the tablet into ignoring that the custom_update_signed.zip file is not an encrypted and officially signed file. But you cannot successfully update with an install.zip file because your tablet does not have root permissions (you removed it) and the su files required for the install.zip file to work no longer exist on your tablet (they were deleted when you removed root permissions).

If your tablet is truly bricked (i.e., it will not boot), then send it to Sony for repair. Hopefully they will return it to you with a rootable version of Android installed.

ahhhh, damn... you are right. i totally forgot about that.well its only like 'half bricked' : it still boots but i dont have working wifi, 3g nor a keyboard ^^. Hardreset or Factoryreset via Recovery wont do it.

I dont really know if it cant work..did i really destroyed my backdoor (the build.prob number change) by a factory reset? if so , i can only flash never fw's with recovery.

For example i still have my custom signed fw 4.03.
when i try to flash it i get :

(verifying update package ...)
E: Failed to verify whole-file sig
E: Signature veryfic. failed

I read that this happens if u have no backdoor and want to reflash the same version or want to downgrade, which let me hope, that if i get a prerooted 4.03 updated zip ( r1a or r2a i forgot sorry, basically the update of ics) , that i can root ot back.

Still having trouble?

Backdoor is only changing the build incremental to a lower one. If you can edit vendor.prop under vendor than you can install a new rom. Ths is how I lost my root. Ended up with no root but root acces partially so could change the incremental, then flashed a rom and that was k10 darn it. This was before we found these update links and has the concept of k10. But oh well, hope you can fix yours.

Have they removed the increment?

So it would no longer be possible to lower the value and flash a later update?

Still the same by my guess. You can try.... change vendor.prop incremental to 120829019 and see if you get ota prompt. I have also successfully decrypted using AIO tools.
