JellyBean - OTA/ETA's - Confirmed JB Updates [RUU Update Method Included]!!!

Search This thread
Hi all,

So on the basis of what you've just said about IMEI's can you clarify my situation for me?

I'm in the UK, I bought my HOX from Virgin Mobile UK so my handset is sim-locked; though my CID is HTC_001. When I unlocked my bootloader and rooted all the VM bloatware disappeared. I've now re-flashed the stock recovery and re-locked the bootloader (kept root using Voodoo though) to wait for the OTA.

Would I get it when HTC pushes it for my CID, or would I have to wait until the next ice age for VM? - Is there anything I could do to get it from HTC otherwise?

Sorry if this is a little off topic! I don't mind being pointed to a better thread for more details.

HTC_001 is unbranded, you should get the update soon!

Saying that, no other UK peeps have got the update yet, right?

The only place mentioning that UK has it is an article linked and later quoted a few pages back (that I've seen anyway). I have yet to see any comments by anybody in the UK that they have it on any site.

That said, I could be wrong, and I don't think it will be that long - a few days to wait shouldn't be that much of a deal.

Hi all

I think I kinda know how Rosie is quick in JB. HTC has disabled 3d rendering nd scrollable wallpaper. Damn it looks like JB is step backward compared to ICS.

Check it for yourself no more 3d weather widget

I'm still on ics, no 3d widgets here mate.

It seems a lot of people are noticing things that were already present in ics, but are now checking everything with a magnifying glass lol!

Based on every recent release, I'd expect the unbranded UK FOTA to arrive a week or two after that for the rest of Europe. But I'm just guessing. (And being realistic.)

I've seen reports of HTC UK claiming the update was already rolling out on Twitter, but in every recent update they've claimed it was released long before it really was, and given made-up nonsense excuses about it rolling out to a limited number of phones per day, which has been demonstrably untrue every time.

Could someone please clarify, will I need to put stock recovery back on and relock the bootloader to get the OTA?

I still have a stock ROM running on HTC_001.

Actually no. In ICS stock ROM when have the weather widget on a homescreen while switching between homescreens u will notice a 3d effect on the weather widget. This is not there on JB. all those who have JB can confirm this.

You do know the difference between clock widget and weather widget, right?

Thanks finally some one understands what I'm trying to say. So when u switch between screens you will actually notice 3d rendering. You need to hold onto the screen when switching u clearly see Tue 3d effect. Try it out...

Big Thanks to "alray" for the newer layout of this information. Appreciated !
HUUUGE Thanks to Exocetdj for the constant effort you put in to maintaining this thread !!

Note that the Country doesn't necessarily mean you will get it if you are located in that Country, it is BASED ON CID and not the Country, different CID's find their way to various countries due to importing etc THIS ALSO WORKS THE OTHER WAY ROUND, if your CID is listed but you havent got the update, it will be your location. For example: HTC_001 has recieved the update, but UK HTC__001 users have not. Due to them being in the UK !

Please post all the relevant information complying with the OP to submit your confirmation. Screenshots would also be a useful addition to your confirmation

FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES TO REPORT YOUR OTA UPDATE!

    CID :
    -Location :
    -Carrier :
    -Hboot ver. :
    -Software Number:
Updating through the RUU method (LOSES USER DATA!):

Step 1: Backup your internal phone sd to a pc/mac..

step 2: Download the JellyBean FirmWare Upgrade Tool
    Firmware Upgrade Thread

Step 3: Unzip the download to a folder, making sure all files within the ZIP are located in the same folder.

Step 4: Open the Firmware upgrade tool entitled "JBFWFlasher.bat" and choose
option 1, "type 1 press enter" it will show a warning just press any key
    and continue.

step 5: On screen once through all warnings it will ask you to do all sorts,
just reboot phone into fastboot by turning off the phone then holding vol
down and power until you get the hboot menu, then select fastboot, connect
phone to pc using usb cable. (Alternativly, issue the fastboot command: fasboot reboot bootloader)

step 6. It will then ask a question about your hboot mine was 1.12 so my answer
was no, after this you should see a menu to select your current cid, choose
your CID from the selected lists. Once done it will mention locking your bootloader, click OK it should then state the bootloader is already unlocked.

Step 7: It will ask to reboot phone into RUU mode, reboot into RUU mode using the steps provided. Continue by pressing any key to flash the firmware. Once the firmware has flashed your hboot should now be 1.36.you can now close the firmware tool.

Step 8: As your phones internal memory i.e os has been wiped you will no
longer be able to boot into any os just yet. at this point with your
phone still connected via usb and run htc ruu until it completes.

If all is well and the guide has been successfully followed.
    Enjoy JellyBean

Gold and fortune await you in the west, young man...

HTC is simply bull****ting their customers...got no other explanation...Its a crappy joke that almost all developers got working 4.1 or even 4.2 versions while HTC keeps telling there´s still some final testing to be done...C´mon...honestly...
