I had this recovery in mind just a minute ago  great to see someone else was thinking the same. How bad is the current version? I was thinking of removing Twrp for it but I've read the backups are taking forever to complete
The backup I just did took 9 minutes. Not horribly slow, but it could be faster. At least there are no more errors on this recovery!

At 9 minutes I dont mind waiting that at all ! Twrp is giving me wrong data size error. Every time i am creating a backup, the Data partition reads 7.3+ terabytes inuse which is completely wrong. The boot and system sizes are correct thouugh. Im using twrp 2.0.6.1

Data partition space error

Hello,

Im having some issues with this recovery as well. I dont understand why every Recovery (Twrp/Cwm/Phillz) is giving me incorrect data space usage but its mind blowing. Im using ext SD. The sad part is now Phillz and CWM is both giving me the terabyte issue while creating a nandroid backup.

Phillz recovery states:
exact error says:

>>Free Space- 6778mb"
>>Needed Space- 7548965mb"
>> Uknown partitions size (1): - /sd-ext

I've tried switching recoveries and nothing works. My issue is exactly the same as this person and i do not think he was able to solve it either

I had that same error, but the new TWRP fixed that for me. Maybe there is a TWRP log file somewhere that PhilZ touch is reading to make it say it's that big?

I was able to fix the issue by restoring to my factory Nandroid backup then reflashing custom rom. Now the data size shows correct. Im unsure why it showed incorrectly to begin with.

In any case, it will not impact final processing
Could be an issue as there is no practical fast mode to get real files size. Methods detect block size usage and if you have many small files, estimations goes completely off

But, normally not over partition size!

I never could reproduce this on my current S4. We'll see next update

Hi Phil, thank you for the update!! I have my tab updated and have been using your great recovery without any issues at all. My question is this, if (for a strange reason) you need to go back to stock recovery OR wanted to go back to CWR, is it possible to change back to a previous recovery? My tab wont accept a change.. not that I want to, just tested without successfully accomplishing it. Since my S4 is my daily phone, I want to be sure I know if/how to switch if needed

Thanks again for your work!

Hi Phil, thanks for the response, you mean Odin to stock? Or just Odin a different recovery? The reason why I ask, I tried testing switching on my tab numerous way and I was not able to change recoveries. (Again, it wasnt needed, just testing if it was possible) i tried using ROM manager, mobile Odin and tried flashing cwr from recovery, all methods failed.

Please don't take my inquiry as saying anything against your recovery, I do think its the best available for android root users, I just like to make sure I know how to restore changes I test before I make the changes. (Not sure how/why I missed having this info before I put PhilzRecovery on my tab) I've been using it without one issue for months now :)

Hows the latest update running for the few folks that have downloaded? I was just about to flash and just happened to check if there was a new version, I didn't check yesterday, and low and behold, new version.. :) so just wondering if anyone has seen any issues with it..

Update for anyone who cares: I was on CarbonJB 10/17 nightly with KT kernel 10/16. Flashed philZ, reran my nandroid, all is perfect so far..
2nd update: just tested going back and forth from cwr to philZ to cwr back to philZ. All went perfect. (Rom mgr) the only reason I wasn't sure was when I tested on my tablet, I wasn't able to go back and forth, once I was on PhilZ, a factory restore was needed to switch. So I am relieved to see it working as designed here on the S4

Hi Phil,

This looks great, Installed it after having a WORLD of trouble with TWRP 2.6...

Question - Tried mounting my 64GB exFAT (whatever version is formatted when S4 formats the SD in a TouchWiz ROM). The "Removable Drive" showed up in my computer, but trying to open it throws the D:/ Drive is not formatted, would you like to format it - Yes || No. Any idea what the heck is going on :(!?

TWRP didn't even mount or recognize the drive in the computer! This is a step closer, but still can't access my data in a computer :(... Please help!

Update:

Figured out the SD Mount issue... the card formatted to FAT32 worked out fine.

Problem with Restore now: The Backup is correct size. First, it would have MD5 mismatch. Looked in the folder, no nandroid.md5. Created a blank one and started restoring! Restore finished, booted system back, but instead of Nandroid like boot, that is, everything starting from where it was left off, I was met with Set up screen like the phone came from Factory :(!!

Anyone has an idea of what's going on :(!!???? Thank you!

What recovery was used to create the backup? If it was Phil, I would try to change the settings to not check md5 before restoring, and it should be good. Just be sure that you know the backup is good, as in you've restored that one successfully before, cause if the mismatch is founded, you can risk bricking if you restore..
