My new Lumia 800 arived yesterday and first impressions are very good. I've got a slight bug, when i scroll up or down in a list of items and then hold my finger on the screen, the list jitters up and down very slightly as if it can't work out where my finger is. Does anyone else have this problem?

I'll try to get a video of it to make it a bit clearer.
I have only noticed this bug in some places when you are at the beginning or at the end of a list. For me to replicate the bug I have to scroll further so that the elastic effect comes in effect. So for me that small bug is pretty much never noticable. Just noticed it by chance. It never happens in the middle of a list for example. Just at the extreme ends when swiping further so the elastic list effect is applied and then hold my finger still.

Mine happens anywhere in a list. It seems to come and go though so I'll see how noticeable it is over the next week and if it gets worse then I'll take it back for an exchange.

I've noticed that too. But yesterday I recived the 11500 firmware update and now I'm not able to reproduce that anymore...

I can't replicate this on my Pink Lumia 800 with 11500...

I saw it on a video somewhere though before I bought it, so I was a bit nervous... But like I said... No such problem for me.

Hey guy. I just got mine from Nokia. The first thing I found out that the screen is flicking every where . Still on firmware 11451. So it seems like the firmware update will fix this problem. It does not really affect much, but I hope I could get the new firmware as soon as possible.

I've seen this problem before. It's a problem with the touchscreen controller, a grounding issue. It's mainly seen when on AC power, although this effect can be mitigated with a better power adapter. They might be able to fix it in software but it's a hardware issue.

Is nokia using a different controller than other companies for some reason? This issue is non existent on the majority of touch screen phones (I.E. the controller is built to work around the problem).

I often use an HTC A/C adaptor, and the jitter is still there.
A good charger (which the HTC might not be), with a ground pin, can hide the problem but the only real solution is an algorithm that 'hides' the effect.

All capacitive touchscreen phones have the same basic problem, they've just programmed the touchscreen controllers so you never see it.

Seems like there is a problem when a charger is connected for me aswell, but only sometimes...

When I first tried it I couldn't even unlock my phone... But when I charged it last night it was completely fine without any jitter at all... Any idea why that is?

I used the same charger (Lumia original) and the same wall outlet and the same extension cord (between outlet and charger).

It's a charge/grounding issue. The screen detects changes in charge, if the ground level is changing then the measurements become erratic leading to the hitter. If the grounding is good then it is fine. It could just be that you aren't as charged as normal :) (maybe the air is more humid?)
