Also, this is a stupid test there are plenty of water test on the XZ in Youtube, and if it survives some water, why wouldn't it survive some soup?, probably water seals on the phone will be damaged in the long term thanks to the salt and other elements in the soup, but that won't happen inmediately.

The cap is easily to be replaced with the new one. My friend who's working in Sony Care said that Sony will sell the cap of XZ, but not at the moment.

Some people need to lighten up though, lots of people test their things like this, it's their property, as long as they're not abusing warranties it's no problem.

And yes, some people do push the limits of their cars, and just about anything else, to see if it really can do what it says.

I was very tempted while in Rome last week to stick my XZ in the Trevi Fountain and take some video but I didn't have the balls in the end.

I'll warm up to it one day, and I have no doubt my phone will at some point get stuck in water or something, you can watch all the youtube videos you like but theres nothing like testing through experimentation. maybe it's an Engineer thing, but we like to "prove" theories through experiment.

He said that after swimming in water, we should not open the cap at that moment, he recommended we should wait for 30 - 60 mins for the water to flow out if we wanted to open the cap. If you open the cap right after picking XZ out of water, maybe your litmus paper will turn to red. And sure you will lose warranty because sony wont fix your XZ if the litmus paper turns from white to red.

PS: do not use hair-dryer or fan, it'll flow the water back to the speaker or I/O
