So i was ambitious, and decided to flash 4.2.1

Well the method i chose was fastboot.

Booted into fastboot, typed fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash system blob (blob is extracted from update zip on Asus website)

went okay booted and everything :) didnt even erase my data!

Now i proceeded to install TWRP 2.4.4 and that went smooth as well.

Rebooted to recovery, NO PASSWORD PROMPT went into "Mount" and was able to mount EVERYTHING successfully. Even through the terminal window.

Installed SuperSu1.25 and now have full Root.

I am in the process of extracting System files and deodexing now.

But everything went perfectly with the upgrade. TWRP 2.4.4 seems to be perfect too.

Just a quick question please. You said you got root back. Did you use twrp 2.4.4 to flash that back in, because I'm assuming you lost it when you flashed to the system partition with fastboot.

Thank you for posting your experience. I have the tools, just didn't have the nerve yet lol.

So I think I messed up. I flashed the zip with tarp. I have things back in and the new 2.4.4.0 loaded but nothing mounts so I can't flash root. Darn it.

All flashes successful including blob to system and reflashed recovery but same problem remains. Can't mount anything. Darn.

If you're on 4.2.1, use this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187982

Forget the first part as you've already flashed the Asus update. In the section that tells you how to flash recovery, download the files in the link he provides for fastboot and TWRP. The files he is hosting fixed that issue for me. I couldn't mount the sdcard either until I used the files listed in that link.

Is it smoother compare to cleanrom on 4.1?

Sent from my ST25a using xda app-developers app
Honestly, it's smoother than 4.1 stock rom but no way it can't smoother than custom roms. BTW, asus messed up camera application really bad for this update. No touch to focus while recording video, video recording still have annoying high pitch sound, ugly camera interface. Why don't they just leave the stock 4.2.1 camera alone ?

yeah thankfully i dont record anything. But touch to focus works just fine. The high pitch squealing is the only issues so far. Very very smooth. I'd say it's to par with clean ROM 4.1. Meaning, clean ROM 4.2 is going to be orgasmic ^-^

You are using recovery 2.4.4 correct?
Yes I am. So here was my sequence of events.

I was on TWRP 2.4.3.0, and with that, flashed the JB4.2 zip from asus - success
Rebooted into the main system - success
Rebooted back into the bootloader with USB plugged in and instantly began using fastboot, used that to flash TWRP 2.4.4.0 - success
Accessed TWRP 2.4.4.0 - success - however, I can't mount a thing inside of it, and I get that infamous password prompt when it starts, but I can cancel that and continue, but I can't access internal or external storage, and it thinks I have no OS.

I reflashed JB4.2 blob file this time using fastboot system - success
Reflashed 2.4.4.0 recovery also using fastboot recovery - success
Tablet boots fine as before, but TWRP still has no mounting available, can't flash anything, can't restore anything cause it can't read where my backups normally are.

So that is the state I'm in, and I know I've read others in that state too, but don't know if a resolution was found. I was thinking of flashing 4.1 back in, but scared of that out of fear of a brick.

Remember I can't flash with TWRP ATM...it can't read anything, including stored zips, unless you're speaking of something else, or unless you mean go get TWRP 2.4.4.0 from that thread and flash that via fastboot. I downloaded 2.4.4.0 from the TWRP web site and flashed that in.

Got a feeling you got the wrong twrp 2.4.4.0

You need the 2.4.4.0-tf300t-4.2.blob not 2.4.4.0-tf300t-JB.blob

Flash 4.2.1 using fastboot. Then flash the recovery he listed. There is a difference between the two. Not sure what but the one from twrp website does not work.

Understood, and both of you are right. I grabbed the one from the web site. I will try the one mentioned above when I get back home today. Thank you.
