I just got a white gs3 from bb. The plastic, glitter filled light blue ring around the edge of the blue s3 is unbearable in my opinion. The white around the screen is distracting but, I'm sure I can find a skin to cover this part. I had the evo lte for a week. The evo will be returned tomorrow.
There is only ONE reason I am returning the elte, a NON-replaceable battery! All cell phones I have had always had the ability to change the battery. I have never tethered my phone to the wall waiting for it to charge. Just pop a charged battery in from the wall charger and voila a full charge in less than one minute. Why HTC made the elte without this feature is beyond me.
The elte is a vastly superior design compared with this s3. I already miss the camera button, the beautifully recessed screen, and the general high quality feel of the metal evo. Without a replaceable battery, none of the superior design features matter.
As far as the speed comparing the 2, the s3 seems much faster and smother in the 2 hours I have used it. I was having soft reboots with the elte and a generally bloated, almost lagggy feeling. I'm sure this could be remedied with root.
Coming from the OG epic running RandomRom, and occasionally CM9, this seems like a nice upgrade. I used the physical kb on the epic the majority of the time so losing nearly half of my screen space when typing is going to take some acclamation.
I am by no means saying that the Galaxy S3 is not a high quality device but, design wise, it is no where near the quality of the Evo LTE. Operationally the S3 wins hands down so far.
I still have the evo sitting here, wishing it had a replaceable battery. If anyone wants to know more of my opinion between the evo and s3, just ask.
As far as reception goes, the s3 seems to have a more stable signal than the evo. I am showing a constant 3 bars where the evo would occasionally drop off completely in Treasure Island FL. Sorry but, I haven't checked the actual db of both.
Maybe I should have started a new thread for this post...
