So I did a factory reset on my kids tablet and in reverted back to 2.2. I tried to to download the recovery file from the Dev-Host site.

The problem is that each one of those downloads an zip file with an exe file in it (which will try to load a bunch of spam crap on my computer). Anyone have a solution on this or where to find the update file??

I cant even get my computer to recognize the tablet at all. When connected, nothing even shows up under the device manager. Tried it on windows xp, 7 and 10. thoughts?

I believe there are compatibility issues with windows 8 and fastboot. If you have an xp machine I would use it. Here is a video on setting up fastboot drivers;

Here is a link to the fastboot drivers;
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/17300857/Fastboot+ADB(20926).zip

Here is a link to setting up fastboot and flashing instructions;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Dell_Streak_7/Flashing_Guide#Installing_a_recovery

Here is a link to a video on using fastboot commands (You should only need to flash recovery.img)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIkcALvQmWM

Fastboot command to flash recovery image is "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" (without quotes) hit enter.
After flash has completed "fastboot reboot" hit enter.

Once you have the recovery I sent via pm flashed, reboot your device into recovery mode and install update.pkg (The .pkg file I set you needs to be renamed update.pkg and placed on the sd card.
I haven't owned this device in awhile but did flash multiple roms/recoveries without issue but I'm going from memory here. You might want to use google and research if your not comfortable with flashing .

Good luck!

yes and i bought another cord too because i thought it might be the issue. no go on either.

Strange, I was able to use XP and Windows 7 with fastboot without issue. Windows 8/8.1 had problems. Do you have any other android device drivers installed that may be interfering? I'm running out of ideas at the moment.

A couple threads on the issue;

I dont know either. None of the above helps.. all those assume your computer can actually see the tablet in the first place regardless of drivers. The tablet use to acknowledge that the computer is attached as well.

As long as the tablet is working I would tend to go with a computer/driver issue. Try un-installing previous android device drivers (you indicated the computer used to recognize the tablet so there must be drivers installed) and start over. Running out of ideas here.

I tried in on two computers with no android drivers installed at all. they are work ones.

one computer with windows 10 did recognize the tablet but under universal bus serial controllers. If i try to install the driver it says that the driver hash is missing.

this is what i get if i try to install the driver via "add legacy hardware"

anyway to install the last tmobile update without using fastboot?

Not sure about installing drivers or using fastboot on windows 10. You may have to disable signature verification to get the drivers installed. Google search on disabling signature verification should provide instructions to do this. Also, you noted a T-mobile update. The files I pm'd you are for wifi. Do you have the 4G verison? They are different files, let me know which one you have.

yeah nothing is working. Are there drivers on the tablet that tell the computer what is going on?? i assume once it is connected to a machine it will say something like it use too about it on the tablet notification

Anyway to install the latest software though the sd card instead of via fast boot?

Depending which recovery you currently have installed, you may be able to update to a subsequent version of the rom via update.pkg on the sd card. Rename the .pkg file to update.pkg, boot into recovery menu and update via pkg on the SD card. If it won't flash the .pkg file, you will need to flash the corresponding recovery.img via fastboot. Also, which device do you have, WiFi or 4G. I previously sent the WiFi rom, but have the 4G rom if you need it.

I have the Tmobile one which i think is the 4g version. Quick way to check?

I tried installing LG7 -514-21700 via the SD card but that didn't work. If i cannot get fastboot to work the tablet is SOL right?

Right now it is on 15420 (2.2.2) which is usless since i cannot setup a google account or get the market (google play) to work.

Be sure and rename the file update.pkg. Also, I just pm'd you the 4G rom. Trying to flash the WiFi rom on a 4G device may fail to install. Also, just reviewing the wiki, it seems that 2.2 was the last T-mobile rom. Not sure if the 4G will flash as the region changed from 33 to 30. Never had the 4G device so not sure.

    ok got the computer to read the tablet (some pins were bent) and did the fastboot but it wont update probably because of the reason you said... tmobile and region. It just gets stuck at "booting recovery kernal image" What option do i have from here? People here say it should work

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1558266

    Read through some threads and the 514 4G update is compatible with T-Mobile

    Reading through this thread some used the 506 recovery to flash the 514 package. So were you able to flash the 514 recovery? If you can get it flashed it should install the update.pkg. If it won't install, I just pm'd you the 506 recovery. Try and fastboot flash that and hopefully it will install the update.pkg.

    Finally got it to work! I had to fastboot the recovery file recovery-froyo-us.img located here
    http://d-h.st/IdY

    then just do the update LG7-514-21700-30.pkg (renamed to update.pkg)
    Awesome! Glad you got it sorted out.
