it somehow fixed itself when I Was messing around with freezing/unfreezing and ultimately deleting the nvidia apps (services etc) in titanium backup. runs cool to the touch now.
Try freezing/disabling the NVIDIA tegra services via titanium backup etc and then restart your tablet twice (twice because i got a strange display issue after first reboot which i got rid of by rebooting again). after that i got rid of the high cpu usage issue
EDIT: Oh you already wrote that you did this step, my bad lol.

Hi and thanks for your great work.
I installed the costum Kernel on 5.1. Now my device's CPU clock won't go below 1.8-2 GHZ, even when manually underclocked in SETCPU (as seen in the screenshot below)
Needless to say that my device is basically melting and not really usable. Any Ideas? Thanks for the help!

Try enabling power savemode and try to underclock in setcpu

When I change the clock speed in SETCPU while in power save mode, it randomly jumps down to 300 MHZ, even when max is 51. Then back up to 1.8-2ghz. :/

last time I managed to fix the 5.1 high cpu usage (50-80% constantly from system services)
in titanium backup (make sure your supersu has the namespaces thing turned off), I took back up or all nvidia/tegra specific apps, before deleting them. I still had the drain, so what I did next was take the tegra setup wizard (the one by nvidia, not google one) and did the same thing. took a backup of it, then frooze it, then uninstalled it. I was unsure if I would brick the system if I totally removed it so I resotred it was well (frozen) and then my device started cooling down.
with screen off it's even cool to the touch!

But 4k HDMI is not working for me. I am still getting stock HDMI resolution. Please help me.
Although benchmarks are not representative of real life performance, I am curious to know why I am getting lower benchmark scores with the custom kernel. (Shouldn't 2.1 Ghz intead of 1.8 Ghz result in higher scores )

@Shaky156 how is the marshmallow development going so far?
Btw, you still need to add the source code of your new kernel to the thread, otherwise one of the moderators could remove the download links for that which i dont want to happen since this is the only custom kernel thread for our tegra note 7.

But I'm having some problems with the CPU going to sleep while playing a game such as Beach Buggy Racing, it kept going down around 200mhz, game was very slow, solved it by manually setting the CPU clock to 1.8Ghz, haven't tested any other game but this was somewhat weird.
Other than that the tablet feels very snappy, no battery drain, no WiFi issues

Could someone provide an alternate download link to the custom 5.1 kernel? I've tried downloading it from the site mentioned in the first post but whatever I do the download just stops in the middle indefinitely.
