Development [Kernel][12.04.2023][Android 13] Kirisakura 3.0.1 for Sony Xperia 1 III aka "Sagami"

Asking for ETAs no matter if direct or indirectly in disguise, politely or impolitely is not considered the proper way on XDA.

I haven´t tried it personally, but you´re free to backup your partitions and give it a try.

As a bonus there´s no source code yet from Sony for A13 for Xperia 1 III. Just like last time as A12 dropped, where you asked the exact same question. It probably will take Sony a few months to release it.
Last time it took them 6 months, so I fear it might take them even longer the older a device gets.

Thanks for the kind words, but the kernel is not a magical improvement.

I guess this is just coincidence and whatever kept your phone awake or hogged resources in the background got cleared by the reboot.
If the kernel really fixed an inherent problem though, I´m happy it helped on your end.

Update to 3.0.0

Hey guys and girls,

Alright. The source code for Xperia 1 III for Android 13 firmware was released a few days ago. Quite a nice surprise as I anticipated a longer waiting time.
I rebased the entire kernel on top of the A13 source code from Sony spending the better part of my free time over the weekend.
The kernel is fully compiled from source with a lot of optimizations as well as latest CAF-Upstream and linux-stable.

I´ll update the OP to reflect all the changes.

More changes can be found in the Changelog below:


Changelog:
- Import kernel source from 61.2.A.0.382
- Linux-Stable upstream bumped to 5.4.229
- latest qcom-upstream
- add ssg-io scheduler from samsung and make it default (less overhead and better tuned towards android)
- slight update to RCU
- keep all previous features and improvements intact
- for more details please check the first post
- other improvements and tweaks please check github if you´re interested in details

Actually it was one of us the asked Sony for kernel source & DTS to be released in SODP repos, so yeah if you didn't know you can just go to https://github.com/sonyxperiadev/kernel-copyleft-dts/ and open a issue and in 1-2 weeks source gets released.

Thanks for the hint, but I did ask them to release it for A12 as well and it still took 6 months.

Flashed 3.0.0 and it's working great aside slower boot and some bugs after the first boot with the new kernel. All device functions work as they should and flashing it made my device heat a lot less while fast charging. All in all this is pretty amazing!

Slower first boot is due to f2fs updating the kernel version. Consecutive boots should be faster.

I could implement a spoof function to always reflect the same kernel version string to f2fs but it's tiresome to maintain.

What bugs did you have after first boot? I didn't find/don't have any on my side.

Ah stamina mode was a little wonky wouldnt turn off in the QS but it was off. All i did was force 120hz from a external app plug the charger in then take it out and enable stamina mode again and it worked fine.

But yeah the temperatures while charging greatly improved, before it would always rise up to 43~45+ Now it's sitting at a cool 38-39

Then its not a bug when you enabled stamine before flash i never had any issue with any version of this kernel

If you don't want it enabled automatically (like Sony does) you need to flash a custom rom but if you want it on stock you need to flash some module idk I haven't looked into it

There's currently no way to always enable 4k on Android 13 sadly, not even magisk modules, unless I use a custom ROM (which I don't want because they are all in a testing phase and not 100% stable)
I guess it's my fault to have upgraded from A11...

I am so grateful to your work @Freak07 may I ask a question? Did 3.0 update the wireguard driver, I have some issues with it on 2.0. I also wonder how automated your source makefile is and if it's difficult going from source to flashable zip. In that case I could patch the driver myself regularly.
