Hey for those of you that love this kernel as much as I do and hate giving it up just because of the rotation issue... I found a work around. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ui.robot.rotate
Basically it has an adaptive mode that displays an icon in the center of the screen whenever u turn the screen. U can then tap it to rotate the screen. Here's the trick... Turn the phone in either direction tap the rotate icon THEN flip the phone around 180 and it displays properly. Turn the phone to portrait and tap the icon and now it's right side up. No battery issues for me thus far.
