So after some testing I came to the conclusion that 839 and 764MHz on GPU in my personal use case scenario are unfortunately a hit or miss. Doesn't matter what voltage I assign to it, it will eventually just force reboot at some point or another, in some cases (not all of them, but most). Basically the GPU is capable of handling 764 and 839MHz but Samsung just didn't put in the hardware to handle it for long periods of time (unless somebody has got the luck to have an incredibly high ASV G71). Well, 683MHz is still a 25% overclock.
Next release will be lots better. ;-)
Admittedly I didn't try to run the benchmarks in battery idle, which may solve the issue. But I never really used that function, so I have no idea how it is used.
Just plug the original AFC charger or use any other USB charger that can supply at least 3 A @ 5 V or 1,67 A @ 9 V, then enable battery idle in A2N app and that's it ! There is no longer needed to set current @ max value since it's done automatically, (I'd patched that in some older release)
PS: max battery charging temp should be at least @ 40°C to avoid power drop.

Either way my bad. I did some more extensive testing, and it turns out it was simply the benchmark I was using to be garbage, as I managed to be stable even at 839MHz through several GFXBench runs. And thanks to that, I gathered CONCLUSIVE GPU performance data for the first time about this device. And I want to share it here, as a token of gratitude.

I ran so many benchmarks that in fact I reached the GFXBench TESTING LIMIT, so unfortunately I couldn't do a variety of simulations for 764MHz and above, since it was locked.

ALU 2 benchmark seems to perfectly reflect each performance increase by percentage, for example a 50% increase in clockspeed is almost a 50% increase in score on ALU 2 benchmark, which means this thing highlights the pure GPU performance increase. The other game benchmarks are treated in the 683MHz sections, as I couldn't run them on 764MHz and 839MHz due to GFXBench limit, but we got a curve, and we can calculate the theoretical scores starting from there.

So fellas, yes. We did it. Ace did it. We are faster than Galaxy S9, a lot.

the feature is supported by the kernel already, if ace has more free time he could just throw the control into the app :cool:

It's not that easy. If I implement UV for CPU lit/big and maybe even for RAM (yes it works as well) then we'll loose auto voltages calibration by hardware. Because if I do, then we'll use hard coded voltages chosen by me, that means on some phone voltages will be lower than stock and could decrease stability and on some phones voltages will be higher and it'll decrease battery life. And honestly that's quite painful, because I like it and it's very well optimized, so no need to adjust. Maybe only for OC Freqs like I did for GPU?

For OC frequencies is definitely more useful because stock frequencies scale in a decently "predictable" manner with undervolt. But CPU OC frequencies are very unpredictable so tuning from the app would make stabilizing OC frequencies MUCH faster.

I'm good with the Termux/ADB way but voltage control for OC frequencies in the app directly is so much more comfortable. Will probably get more people to undervolt.

OK, done, added also for max freqs like 2314, 1690 and 572 MHz. Yes 572 Mhz is the new default max freq for GPU, since i've removed 546 MHz step. And still fighting with RAM OC. I've one more idea, if that fails too, like the other few ideas, then i'll make new release without RAM OC, otherwise new release will never come up. 😄

You really want to make it 100% huh Ace? Just when we think the Kernel peaked, you optimize even more or tryhard to get more OC in. At this point you mastered the S8 to such an extent that calling it that doesn't work anymore. It's a different phone, much faster, much more efficient, much snappier.

yeah because only last think not get oc'ed bro i have talk with dev now he struggle about HEX file or you call it binary file that file contain information of ram voltage and intiating OC because of that if the freq more then default that will reboot because that file maybe you can help dev to translate all binary word to readable

my result i use diamond powder and 12.8 w/m.k thermal paste i cool it in freeze for 30 second and get the battery sensor 16°c and i press start button and here i can hold it 15sec how about you ?

    I know how it works Ace. I’m just asking because heat isn’t the only thing that can kill a processor. It’s also voltage. Either way if 850mV is fine, then I can most definitely run 839.

    Yes you can pretty safe use 839 MHz.

    I've found this interesting article., about how much voltage a CPU can take.
    They say up to 1,4 V it's safe with proper cooling or like here with proper DVFS driver. I couldn't find much info about GPU, but it should be the same, since they are in the same nm.
    As you can see for CPU we can set max 1,4 V. And for GPU only 1,0 V.
    It's even possible to push the GPU @ 1,4 V but it's not worth it, because 839 MHz @ 1,0 V is already very hot in full load. Also I've capped to 1,0 V for GPU, because I think that nobody needs more than 1,0 V to make 839 MHz stable. And honestly if 839 MHz won't work stable even @ 1,0 V, then it's really better to use 764 MHz instead to run the phone to the hell for just having a bit of more speed as compared to 764 MHz.

    A: Settings --> network settings --> use private DNS server like "dns.adguard.com" - confirmed to work by user @Arnz09 - see his post here.

    Q: Why I get lower benchmark scores with this kernel compared with the Samsung kernel ?
    A: This kernel uses by default Max CPU/GPU DVFS Temp 65 °C to reduce the device heat. You can buy the full version of the A2N app to set the DVFS Temp up to 100 °C to get higher scores than on stock kernel.

    Q: Why the Android Battery setting "fast charging" has no effect on this kernel ? - It charges always with around 1500 mA.
    A: Because it would conflict with the built-in charger control.
    The default charging current of approx. 1500 mA means no fast charging by default, even if you actually see "fast charging" in the notification section. This is also useful to reduce battery stress and device heat. To charge even with higher speed/current than on stock kernel you need to buy the full version of the A2N app.

    Q: Why I've to pay money for just changing kernel settings ?
    A: Well quality has its price. Also nobody forces you to use this kernel.
    You can flash other custom kernels or flash the Samsung stock kernel from my download site. Good luck !

    Q: When we get an update ?
    A: This kernel is almost 100 % stable and works very well. Also this phone is now a bit "old" and therefore don't expect frequent updates.
    Also don't ask for ETA's and if you do anyway, I'll ignore.

    Q: How to fix audio stutering ?
    A: Increase the UHQ PM-QOS-LIT Freq in A2N app in "Audio" section.
    If you don't have the full version, you can run a cmd like this:

    Q: What is the benefit of editing the voltage table ?
    A: to increase OC stability increase voltage and to decrease the device heat, decrease voltage. Last one will improve performance due to less throttling ! So it depends on your needs.

    Q: How much is safe to undervolt ?
    A: approx -50 or -75 mV is considered to be "safe".

    Q: How to edit voltage table ?
    A: First of all: to set different CPU/GPU clocks or voltages you need to have Magisk installed and buy my A2N kernel control app full version. This will unlock all premium features of this kernel.
    To edit GPU voltages for steps > 572 MHz ---> use the A2N app full version.
    To change all the other voltages, you need to use ADB and later once you have found the proper voltages for your phone then you can write them to a script that will be executed at every boot.
    Note: this voltage table is from my phone. Your phone may have a different table, so please use your table when it comes to calculate how much you want to undervolt. (50 - 75 mV or 50000 - 75000 uV should be safe)

    Q: How to Report Bugs ?

    A: Open the red A2N Kernel Control demo app and check in-app-menu (3 dots) then "Debug" and then on "logcat and dmesg" if you faced an app crash or if some features didn't work.
    If the phone rebooted randomly, then tap on "last_kmsg". You will find the logs in your internal storage. After that you can attach them here in your bug report, by clicking "Attach files".
