This build indeed has stock CPU voltage table as said in the previous post. Thus if anyone has a problem, it will help me to fix the right voltage table (cpu or gpu).

However, the next r2 build will have both included. Also, you must know that the modifications only affect group B as I can't test for group A or C, and group B represents 90% of the Notes out there. :cowboy:
How to know my phone's group??

Sorry for my English...

Hello dev ..
The performance seems to be excellent !! Very smooth !
But battery life isn't too great .. :)
I lose 2-3% at times just while typing a message on whatsapp ..
I have a wake lock problem too ..better battery stats says its a "deleted_wakelock"...
Any idea ?? Thanks :)

+1
Anyways I love the lesser heat compared to nx :thumbup::D

Open the terminal emulator. Type "su" and enter to log as root. Then type "dmesg | grep asv" and press enter again.
You will see "exynos_result_of_asv_group = xxx". Three possibilities here :
  • 0x1 => group A
  • 0x2 => group B
  • 0x3 => group C

(don't be sorry for your english as you're the one making efforts here :D)

@ravi_buz

Will you make your kernel 4.3 compatible soon??
Yes, after the r2 release. I suggest you to try with the current r1, it may work as there's not much differences in the kernel. Maybe the ramdisk is different though, so I'll have to extract it to make it work.

It's weird, and I don't see how a wakelock problem would be related to the kernel. Try it with a stock CyanogenMod rom and tell me if you have the issue. Maybe it's an application that causes the problem.

@ everyone

I built Raw Kernel r2 with both GPU and CPU undervolt activated and I experienced two crashes while playing. I will slightly increase the voltages to get it real stable (+24h uptime) before releasing this.

Also, setting the lowest GPU step from 133 (really 115) to 134MHz made a big difference ! Increasing it further to the stock frequency (160MHz) doesn't change anything so I'll leave it as is.

Cheers :cool:

Dev ..isn't wake lock a kernel problem ?
Cuz its under the head "kernel wake locks " ..
But I will try it with cm and get back :)

Would love to do that, but currently i do not have any 4.3 kernel to flash just in case r1 fails.

Well, I don't have BetterBatteryStats on my phone but I see around 84% deep sleep and the battery life is great, with stock CM10.1 20130804. :victory:

You can flash any safe kernel using ODIN, and then reflash CyanogenMod 10.2.

I just flashed the r1 kernel over the later PA (4.3) and my phone did not boot and was stuck at Samsung screen..there could be some minor changes that needs to be done at kernel level for it to work with 4.3. Will try out your next version and will report back.

PS: Can you post on the OP that this kernel is not compatible with 4.3 for now.I dont want to see another dev run away due to noob posts :crying:

Great kernel !
Been using it a while ..good performance ..phone doesn't heat up while playing games.. Thanks :)

which game are you testing it on? I'm playing Dungeon Hunter 4 and its still heats up, with slight occasional lag (I would say this is one of the better kernel in handling this game though) might be because this is a graphic intensive game. So which game are you testing it on?

I'm on Stunner Cm 10.1

Announcing Raw Kernel r2

It's time! After playing some days with undervolting, I decided to be more reasonnable and make a quick release.

Changelog :
* Bumped lowest GPU step from 133 to 134MHz. This may be ridiculous but the frequency was actually 115MHz when setting it to 133.
* Fixed a kernel mistake that resulted in higher GPU voltages than needed for group B and C. I will try to submit the patch to gerrit.
* -50mV for every GPU and CPU step (only for group B). It should be rock stable.
* Latest kernel changes from CyanogenMod merged in.

This is a smoother, more battery-friendly kernel.

Download : raw_kernel_r2.zip

Soon, some love for Android 4.3. :victory:

NX Kernel, which i'm using at the moment, is very fast and durable.

Why don't just continue NX development instead of begin this one?
It has diverged too much from mainline, so it would be a nightmare to maintain for me.
Also, I think Raw Kernel is now very close in terms of performance to NX-Kernel, so it's not needed.

EDIT: I tested NX-Kernel 1.4.2 and it's heating like there's no tomorrow, just as reported by other users.

First of all: your Kernel is nearly identical to the original whereas NX-Kernel is a product of development and by that naturally diverging from a mainline.

As far as I can see from your OP you only changed minor values but didn't really add new features or even modify many.

As you wrote in the first post: "That's all. These tiny changes are trully noticeable."

Hard to believe that these parameter modifications are measurable at all.

You build your own kernel - that's nice work. But this isn't development at all until now.

Only the usual advertising words: better battery, heat reduction and high performance - this fits perfectly to some of the wonder Roms here claiming the same.
