Hi. I'm new here and just recently moved over from a galaxy S WiFi 4.0 to a used GS3. Back on my Galaxy s WiFi, the devs for the 4.0 and 5.0 versions were able to add a 20% undervolt to the LCD. This resulted in dramatically better battery results. I cannot help but think that the same would happen to the GS3 if the mod could be added to a kernel such as this one. I can provide links if needed.

Does anyone here have any thoughts on this?

I think support here is fading away. :/

I've flashed this kernel to a phone with a broken screen via adb on a stock phone. Now I can't get adb to see the phone even in recovery. Can someone tell me what to press after recovery to get the phone to connect in adb. Before it was vol-down + power to be able to sideload. I'm guessing the new kernel changed the recovery mode menu?

No it hasn't. However, your USB Debugging might be turned off or set to Fast Charge.

Is there any way I can re-enable usb debugging with this kernel without using the screen? I can't get adb to see the phone in recovery mode, or at any other, after flashing this kernel, so I can't sideload anything.

Hi. Currently using this kernel on the stock rom. I contacted the dev of the dkp kernel about a kernel mod we had on my previous device (galaxy player 4.0) that undervolted the screen. He toyed around with it some but couldn't get any good results out of it (the undervolting was for whatever reason ineffective on battery life as it probably should be). Undervolting the screen made quite a bit of difference in battery life back on my galaxy player, so if any devs here would like to pick that up and see if they can work it into this kernel, I am willing to give any needed info.

Link to his Git would be nice, Any specific commit that you might know would be nice as well.

XDA Kernel page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2356106

Other than this all I can tell you is that decimalman, dev of dkp kernel, messed around with it and found that undervolting would do whacky things to the gamma, but that can just be corrected. Other than that, as far as he told me, nothing else messed up from undervolting. What he could not do was get any good results out of it, like significant power savings like we had on the galaxy player. He said the OLED on our device is complicated hardware so he seemed to come to the conclusion that it was either too complicated or had more important projects to work on. Granted, the player had an LCD while the GS3 has an OLED. I still have hopes that maybe it can work and someone can figure it out though, so I thought I'd share with another dev.

I also can dig up a link to a GS2 kernel that undervolted the screen if needed. They were overkill and undervolted the ram along with it lol :p

Also, if it's worth anything, on the player we had a seemingly high minimum brightness level (seems all samsung devices are like this). The kernel devs had found a way to lower the minimum brightness, which was also added into the kernel I linked above. Perhaps there could be some useful info there for porting that mod to the GS3. :D

Thanks!

In this kernel, please try the color temperature Options (TRINITY COLORS) in the Ktweaker app. Set it to cooler temperature. See how that plays out.

Where can I get the latest version of this kernel for T-Mobile S3 devices? AFAIK this is only for Sprint devices only, and his T-Mobile kernel thread directs me to this thread.
