That's great. Also, I haven't had the need to flash the rom yet but whenever I do, do I just boot to the unofficial twrp and flash the zip normally? Or is there some difference

I had already converted to the global version so I just wiped everything and used OTA to get back to stock.

Just a stock wipe from the settings menu, not recovery wipe. Now that TWRP has been updated it might be possible to flash the zip but I'm not sure.
I just flashed the 10.5.9 OOS (indian) and I'm getting an issue with the lockscreen where it would take about 2 seconds to turn on when I press the power button and only the fingerprint sensor (area/light) turns on for that while until finally the whole screen turns on. This issue isn't there on the stock kernel but is arising on both radioactive and elemental X. Hope new updates can fix it because I really want to use the custom kernels.
Though I've to mention that 10.5.9 hadn't come OTA I downloaded it from the OP8 forums where they have a repository for all the updates. Also, the update didn't show any changelog like it does for other updates while flashing from the updates section so I'm having doubts about the originality of the update.

Is there any way I can go back to version 1.03? I have the EX app,but I can only download the latest version thought that, or 1.02 from this forum post

But i get this black screen on 1.06, which i cannot seem to figure out, how to resolve. When screen locks, it takes between 10 to 60 seconds, before the screen turns on, when i hit the power button to unlock.
Is 1.06 for a different version?
If not, i must try a clean flash i guess, just want to ask before i go down that road.

I'm having the exact same issue on 10.5.8 EU with version 1.06. Never had this issue in the past update or kernel version. Sometimes it doesn't even come on at all, so I have to restart the phone via volume up and power button combination.
I've specifically turned on double tap to wake, to get to the lock screen now, as the power button is pretty much useless.

I've been having this issue with the latest oos update (mine is 10.5.9 indian) I've tried elemental x and radioactive both and both are causing the same issue with the lockscreen. My workaround was single tapping to turn ambient display on and using the fingerprint from there, works without any issues. But I've shifted to stock kernel for now
Same black screen issue with 1.0.7 
I even tryed a fully msm reset. Currently moved to Radioactive kernel 1.0.8 which seemed to fixed the problem. I will return to ElementalX in next update.

Do you guys have the latest firmware? I have the 8 pro, so this may never get fixed. I don't know what the problem is exactly.
@acuicultor fixed this in the radioactive kernel and I think made the fix available/public so other devs could us eit aswell. Try contacting him he'll be happy to help
The problem is that in op8 techpack/display a configuration entry is missing, you can fix it with this commit.

Weird question but does anyone know how to control the brightness of the screen? sometime I thought the phone dimmer is too much or not enough brightness in sunlight..
Use the high brightness mode app, it will do wonders for outdoor use.
I tried it, but it keep flickering on between low and bright mode.
Strange, it's completely seamless for me, using it many years on all my phones. I recommend having adaptive brightness enabled and not touching any settings in the HBM app.
