Confused, how is that different from flashing the kernel after flashing the ROM already? (current state)

Steps I took last night when upgrading:

1. Updated to latest blu spark TWRP
2. Flashed 9.0.3 firmware zip for OOS (the 60MB firmware pkg, not the full ROM)
3. Fully wiped everything (I needed a fresh start anyway)
4. Flashed Pixel Experience ROM
5. Flashed Magisk
6. Flashed bluSpark (several reboots later after config'ing everything and seeing batt drain I didnt like).

At a glance, sounds like you're proposing I do what was already done (flashing the kernel after the ROM)?

Edit: did this and same result -- WiFi wont turn on. Hit toggle, it tries to turn on, fails and back to OFF.
Then it's the pixel rom as only stock OOS is supported according to the first post.

If only stock OOS is supported, why is there a custom ROM r155 right next to the OOS one? Title even says "/ pie custom ROMs"
What you MEAN is no technical suport by the devs for custom ROM usage.

Still doesnt change that posting this info for others to see that will eventually lead to figuring it out.

Dunno, but WiFi is working with this kernel on stock OOS.

Cool, no offense but I'm reporting to others that it does not on a specific custom ROM. Whether devs support custom ROMs is irrelevant. They release a custom ROM version, and folks should be able to see others informing them of which ones DONT work with it.

Not trying to be an @#@, but cmon....

First step in solving a problem is informing others there IS a problem.

Is it so hard to search?

All right crew!

blu_spark r146 for custom pie ROMs is up :victory:
For now it will only support CAF style wifi module loading, ergo no inline wifi builds ROM support.
hal refuses to work with old Oreo workaround for both module and inline builds, we'll see what future brings.
Nothing changed since r146 till latest on Wi-Fi support.
Also, OMNI works... ?

"Problem" solved!

Seems WiFi doesn't work on custom Pie ?
Tried on Havoc but then it's not possible to turn WiFi on, like mentioned somewhere in the thread.
Tried latest r155.

Thank you.

Should be this kernel turn off the Wifi in SETTING even you wish to turn it on manually ! I just flash this kernel with Pixel Experience rom, during the initial setup, wifi works fine. But after I finish the setup and flash the kernel in TWRP recovery, the wifi will never be turned on ! I have repeated the experiment twice to confirm it !

Nothing changes. If you're using a custom ROM with wifi built module, all will work fine.
Otherwise nothing I can do for you.
Let's move on from this crap already, this and the 5T thread are constantly flooded with this stuff when such ROMs update, because people don't read.

Is fastlane recommended? Where is wakelock blocker zip for pie?
It's on every extras post.

Sorry to have bothered you...
Even with some geek attitude, it's reasonably not possible to read each and every whole threads, I guess you might agree.
I mentioned broken WiFi report mentioned on the thread, so it "prove" I made some research before posting.
We all know you're a skilled developer but as user, we don't know how it works behind what we can see, contrary to you. [emoji846]

Maybe it should be roughly explained in the original post for not too lazy users. [emoji39]

Thanks for the explanation.

Not being a developer or a geek user is not an excuse to not use the search button properly, not reading before complain.

You will find very recent inputs in this matter here and in the 5t thread.
Carry on.

I'm on the latest 9.x stock beta and I've tried all the TWRPs, none of them worked. Somehow fastboot says it's flashed but when I reboot to recovery it's still the stock one.

Finally I've tried the latest blu_spark TWRP and reboot from bootloader to recovery directly and lo-and-behold it worked! Until I've rebooted the phone.... Now it's back to stock recovery again. The bad thing is I can't make it work again. I've tried to flash it again and directly boot from bootloader to recovery just like I did the first time and I don't get anything. No recovery. Not the stock one not the TWRP. Just back to bootloader menu. Then I reboot the phone and it's the stock recovery again. I had one chance to install blue_spark kernel and I've lost it :D

Anyway does anybody have some pointers?

You have to flash magisk, booting stock kernel will get TWRP overwritten with stock recovery.

As for the fastboot initial flash, make sure you are flashing the latest blu_TWRP build, and check the Terminal output after flashing to make sure TWRP is flashed indeed.

If it has I see no reason for the device to get back to bootloader when you reboot to TWRP.
Unless your are flashing pre PIE TWRP, so making sure you are flashing the latest.... Since Oreo TWRP builds have been taged for being incompatible with PIE FW.

Good luck.

New user Oneplus 5, been using this Kernel for few weeks on xXx OOS Oreo ROM, and it has been great experiences
But now I'm curious, and decide to go to Pie, but unfortunately I got lag and stuttering for times, did clean flash with every possible way, but in general here's what I did
- Return to fully stock 5.1.3 > 5.1.4 > 5.1.7 > 9.0.3
- Flash Blu_Spark TWRP 9.91
- Wipe Dalvik Cache, Cache, System, Data, Vendor, Internal Storage (I did flash everything from my USB OTG)
- Reflashed 9.0.3 then Blu_Spark 155 > Reboot > Set Wizard Startup > Reboot back to Recovery
- Flash Magisk 18.1 > Reboot > install Magisk Manager > Set Magisk Setting > Install busybox from Magisk's Repo > Reboot
- Install Kernel Adiutor > Set Fastlane to 1 and both treshold to 35 > apply on boot > reboot
Then after sometimes the device get stutter alot, and if I checked in Kernel Adiutor, the Big_Cluster''s Governor switched to Interactive and if I switch to blu_active, it just switched back to interactive, while the Little Cluster stays on blu-active
Is there something wrong with steps that I choose?

The lag you have is a common issue that OOS pie has. Everybody is facing that either with stock kernel or Blu spark. We need to wait for a OnePlus update ora roll back to oreo 8.1 :)

Oh.. I thought I'm alone here
I guess nothing can be done to fix so maybe I'm just gonna rollback for now
Thanks for your responses
