Sorry for the issues/delay, there was a bug in the config app in play store.
Now it should work correctly, and have effect also.
Thanks for checking. I've some issues with the new sources for June patch, I need to investigate. It stops at booting before I can get logs. A bigger amount of changes landed, so I need to check things a bit more what goes wrong

Hopefully the 1.8.6 will work fine too, managed to find the issue with compiling it, but I'm not fully sure as I'm on Android 12 beta

Thanks for the feedback, found what the charger issue is, but I'm not sure about the reboots.
I'll upload the new version in a bit, let's see if it fixes all.

vbmeta of SPB2 to deactivate verity checks on the custom boot image and most probably to do factory reset, DO IT BEFORE FLASHING THE KERNEL, or it won't boot
You can try to deactivate the vbmeta check before the first booting up right after sideloading the OTA beta 1, maybe that will let you boot without factory reset after vbmeta verify disabling.
Deactivate, you might need to factory reset if you don't follow the OTA-update/disable-before-first-boot procedure (fastboot -w for factory reset)

Requirements
- Unlocked Pixel 5, stock or with magisk root
- From Android S, vbmeta verification must be disabled. Download the stock full firmware for you phone, extract Vbmeta.img and do:
--- In Android S, you might need to do a factory reset when disabling Verity after the system booted before with vbmeta enabled! If it doesn't boot with corruption problem, you need to do a factory reset with 'fastboot -w'Code:fastboot flash --disable-verity --disable-verification vbmeta vbmeta.img
--- When updating with next OTA on Android S, I recommend to 'adb sideload ota.zip' and then BEFORE booting, go to Bootloader and with latest Vbmeta.img, make sure to switch off verity again with fastboot flashing vbmeta again, and boot only after that. - BACKUP: make sure you have a stock image downloaded (boot img) from Google (https://developers.google.com/android/images) before installing this!
Installation Guide
- For SafetyNet, Adblocking, after flashing you might need to restart the phone after the first boot, otherwise it might not work.
- If using Companion App for notification / gesture etc features, there's a setting in the app to Switch off Proximity sensor while Screen is on. This will prevent the flickering, but Face down screen off feature won't work

I don't know if this is something you're already working on, but once your kernel is updated to use Boot Image Header Version 4 disabling verity/verification should no longer be necessary.
We had to do this with Magisk before the fix was implemented in Canary 23016. I wonder if their commit notes could be of any use. It isn't the modified boot image itself that trips verity; it's when the boot image header doesn't pass integrity. Magisk 23001-23015 did not properly preserve the boot image header, so the image wouldn't boot unless verity was disabled.
This is a relatively minor issue that, once fixed, should allow all your users to easily flash your kernel just like any other boot image.
Also, some clarification on the vbmeta data wipe requirement:
- If it's the first time disabling verity/verification and /data is populated, a wipe will be required.
- If verity/verification were disabled on the previous flash, disabling again won't require a wipe as long as the device is not permitted to boot without verity disabled.
- If verity/verification were disabled previously, and the user forgets to disable verity again and the device is allowed to boot, a wipe will be required to disable it again.
- After OTA update, the system expects to see a match between the boot image and system; if there is a mismatch, system decides it was a bad flash and bootloops back to the original (non-updated) slot
- Therefore, after OTA update, the device must be allowed to boot the stock boot image at least once
- The OTA process does not permit disabling verity/verification while updating; this must be done by rebooting to bootloader and reflashing vbmeta manually; if this step is skipped, a custom kernel cannot be used
- The factory update on the other hand simply overwrites system and doesn't care about the boot image version when the device boots
- Verity/verification can be disabled as part of the factory update process; there is no need to reflash vbmeta manually
- Download and extract the factory image.
- Update bootloader and radio if necessary (just compare last 4 of version numbers, if different, update and reboot to bootloader). Update will fail if the package includes updated bootloader/radio.
- Dirty flash the factory image:
