Aww nuts. I was wondering why there was not a reply here. I guess it didn't submit. I did the instructions a few post above and his steps worked. When I flashed the cleanslate kernel. It did not boot. I can't remember what part it was at but all it did was vibrate every few seconds on a black screen. Again so sorry I didn't realize it didn't submit. I flashed through twrp build.

Thanks for the feedback. That's bad news.
Could you tell me what base are you on?
1.05 or 1.10?
I'd need dmesg or console-ramoops to investigate, but it's not possible to grab without a successful boot.

Was the flashing all good? Maybe you could grab a recovery log while installing it in twrp?

I will try again and see if I can get a twrp log for you. I flashed in TWRP just fine. How would I get the logs for you?

Hi, Thanks for getting back with the info.
I'm positive that this is going to be somewhat harder... especially because U11+ is Project Treble, and I have not much knowledge how that can impact the installation process.
Nevertheless, I've updated the installer zip with latest AnyKernel2 patches.
I'm hoping this might help some issues, that might be coming from the new Android version with Treble, but it's just trial and error yet.

Here's a new installer 1.0.1v2:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=962021903579499845
If it installs successfully and doesn't boot I'l try to dig around what other stuff might be the issue.

@cameljockey1
ok, i've another idea as well for the boot being stuck (i've had something similar with a recent change which I supposed is fixed, but maybe it's not okay on the U11+).

So here is a 1.0.1 version 3 as well., this might fix the issue
1.0.1 Version 3
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673791459329068882

Here's a fully stock source 1.05 kernel without any change, just built as HTC provided. If the previous didn't boot, please test this as well if it boots:
Stock kernel built from source

The older try 1.0.1v2:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=962021903579499845

if any of these boot, that would be awesome.

Anyone wishing to try to help the cause to build a custom kernel, please try this stock source build:
Stock kernel built from unmodified source, in TWRP by these careful steps detailed here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74875149&postcount=14
Make sure, you have a stock recovery for your carrier and firmware version before going on! Backup your boot partition so you can revert

https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745849072291696382

If it booted, let me know here!! Thank you in advance

I request your advice. This is the phone I bought for work. I need encryption and I am not sure if it is wise to flash a work phone. I am into cryptography and only install APKs from verified sources. I am into cryptography and dealing with sort of sensitive data, because I am also a free journalist. So would you stay away from root and how many of the features of your kernel require root access?

Thanks in advance for the time reading this. All the best for you, your work, your goals, your life. Wish health and luck to you and your family. Keep doing what you are doing.

Hi,
This kernel won't require rooting for its features, my approach on the u11 and htc 10 is to have a non-rooted kernel. Except one feature, WireGuard VPN, which requires it.

Thanks for the answer and sorry for not replying earlier. The main thing that holds me back is the unofficial TWRP. Appreciate to have it, don't get me wrong, but kernel patches just to get the recovery to work, doesn't seem like a solution that shines with stability.

Don't worry, no hurry
at some point this will get better hopefully.
I don't yet have this device to help out on the u11plus recovery topic.

UPDATE

1.7.0 beta1
I detected a strong suspect for the inability to boot, happening on U11 verity checking as well which caused hang or bootloop.
So I've decided to rather progress further with porting U11 features of CleanSlate to U11Plus. Hopefully now this beta will boot. (Still start testing the stock build and after that the beta1)
Code:
- Squeeze Control (Wake,Peek,Sleep,Swipe)
- KCAL Color Control
- Fingerprint doubletap sleep
- K.AdAway - kernel adblocking feature for browsing and in app (not for youtube stream etc)
- Kernel Ambient Display - if you want to replace HTC's always on display / doze mode, try enabling this, disable AOD of Sense. This is a kernel side Ambient Display, showing Lockscreen with your notifications upon receiving a new one.
- Smart Notification Control
- CleanSlate Companion app
- Unprivileged Configuration Interface Config App
- ROM side Ambient Display support for all notification functions
- Flashlight Notification
- Vibrating Notification Reminder
- Notification Booster on vibrating notifications when screen is off
- Gradient battery charging led turning from amber to green based on battery level percentage, then at full charge it starts to smoothly change from full bright green to golden and the back to full green cycling, signalling 100% battery for easy spotting
- Fading notification led fading/pulsating type notification LED blinking
- Upper grill RGB LED light brightness level you can lower the brightness level of the upper grill RGB led now
- Adrenoboost version 2.2 - smooth gaming, battery friendly, fixing GPU handling of stock HTC kernel -- battery friendly conservative governor. Three levels (1 is the most battery friendly), and off state.
- NTFS/ReadWrite
- Wakelock reduction patch by fransiscofranco
Anyone wishing to try to help the cause to build a custom kernel, please try this stock source build:
