Can't flash .IMG through twrp takes me to fastboot for reason too. O well wasn't for me to try. Wish there was a flashable .zip version of this. Just FYI I tried with cm 13 nightly and cm 13 snapshot both go to fastboot when I flash kernel

Working for ZE601KL(Z011D) ??

I have ZE601KL and presently on RR N, your post title says CM13 which is based on MM, that's why want to know if it's working for my device or not?

And is it working for RR MM?

Thanks :)

Is there any alternate way of Unlocking Bootloader w/o Unlock App?
Can I backup all stock partitions before unlocking bootloader/flashing TWRP?
Please provide links to help me!!

I'm asking all this cause if Kernel Flashing goes wrong, then what would i do?

I've actually done a lot of ROM flashing and all in this past(mainly on MTK)
So I'm kinda tensed about this device!

Thanks!!!

I saw this post but it said you need root before backing up partitions
But rooting requires TWRP which requires unlocked bootloader itself, so how is this method alternate method to unlock Bootloader?

Please explain cause I'm unable to understand that post

Sorry for acting and asking so noob-like questions but the thing is this mobile belongs to my mother and I don't want anything at all to go wrong or she'll kill me
Cause if it was my mobile i would've tried everything on my own cause i know that there's always some way to recover a bricked device

So bear with me

Thanks

You don't need twrp for rooting, you can root your device by flashing via adb a rooted system image which can be found on zenfone 2 laser thread.

But if I flash rooted system image, then that means I'm not actually backing up original partitions cause it is edited and rooted i guess
And am i supposed to only use "fastboot flash system system.img" command or any other command to format system partition first?

So that means it's either flashing a rooted image file or Unlock App?

Well i found ZE601KL_WW_21.40.1220.1902 but my device is on WW-21.40.1220.1998
and there's no rooted image for this version yet
What should I do?

Thanks

Actually I think that it'll be better if I don't let Asus know that I'm unlocking bootloader cause Unlock App uploads our phone ID and all to their servers which tells them that no Service Center support any more

What if i got into stock recovery and use adb sideload to flash SuperSu.zip
Is this possible?
Or do we need TWRP and unlocked bootloader to root?

I dnt knw abt that.. But let me tell you something, even if u get succeeded by this method, unlocking bootloader by that method is lot harder, since you dnt knw what u r doing, theres a chance in bricking your device , if that happens, well i really dmt want to think abt what happens in ur house lol

Try unlocking bootloader by official app provided by asus, its safe and a lot easier... Think twice before doing anything

Hi bro.
Custom Roms Requires Unlocked Bootloader.
Asus's official app is available to unlock bootloader u can get it by google search.
i Read yr text nd found yor mom is using device.
i will Suggest u not to play with things which u dont know i mean u have to read proper nd follow instructions step by step to have custom rom Once u learn how to flash u will love custom roms only:)
& Believe me i havent found stock asus camera like result or dialer app experience in any custom rom till now.
Asus will not give warranty to unlocked or rooted device. So better stay on latest stock Roms if its under warranty.
U can download latest firmware(Roms) on Asus 's device support page.
And stock rom is much better for yr mom cuz i think her usage wud b so normal :)
