So is this kernel working better with the AICP ROMs? Is flashing AICP recommended?

So here is something about the alarm clock.
Using XOSP for Xiaomi 4C based on Android 7.1.1
When using built-in or third-party alarm, the phone would froze. Only way to stop is to force to reboot.
The third-party alarm clock I use is "Alarmdroid".
When the alarm goes the phone is not charging.
BTW the inaccurate battery status was totally fixed, thanks a lot.

AICP already has the kernel included, and I'm mostly supporting only this ROM now.

AOSP alarm in AICP works fine for me.

Nope, RR uses appended dtb so it's not compatible.

I am experiencing the same issues but on the latest AICP nightly - BSOD when the alarm goes off while charging.

On AICP Official 7.1.1 03/06/2017 no battery problem anymore. Battery Life good for me. Only thing the message "Can't connect to camera" and the camera doesn't work until restart the phone.

You don't need to use this kernel on AICP... AICP already includes it.
