@mat9v
Mate, why wouldn't you open a new thread and upload all your awsome scripts regarding devil2 kernel in the few opening posts?

It is such a great work and gets burried here in such an active thread....
So we would have all the scripts collected on one place! :D
I totally agree. Although everyone in this thread does great work and are probably not getting the recognition they deserve, the thread is by far one of the most disorganized ones I've seen lol. No offense to anyone. But if we can have all the latest files in the first few posts instead of having to dig through the entire thread that would be great!

I don't think it does matter, on the other hand you can safely (and reversibly) update to MJ5 bootloader and that will enable you to use TW 4.3 roms with full stability and WiFi without flashing any patches.

@zeeshanonlyme : You can edit the script to do the same without using any special software. Just put 0 in place of 1 in following lines:
echo "1" > /sys/class/misc/mdnie/hook_intercept
echo "1" > /sys/class/misc/mdnie/sequence_intercept
echo "1" > /sys/class/misc/mdnie/hook_control/s_MCM
Thanx for the feedback.. One more issue I'm having is that the kernel breaks my usb connection to pc. It does not get connected to pc via mtp anymore.. Flashed Agni and it works fine..

Followed the instructions faithfully but....

I followed the guide/instructions in migrating from ext4 to f2fs file system but whenever I am at the point of restoring the backup, it works but it won't boot. after the devil kernel logo it just turns black afterwards. Using a GNII AT&T variant and applying it for a 4.3 international rom. Any guess why it would't boot properly?

PS: I already tried it 3 times and still the same outcome.

Update: @mat9v does your script work with lower versions of the kernel? thanks! :)

Sorry to say that it is very difficult to handle Devil recovery.

In v6.0.4.4
if i wipe second rom it wipes primary too.

In v 6.0.4.5
if i wipe second rom it does not wipe data..
If i wipe primary rom it factory reset secondary rom and wipes primary.
and there is annoying " only available with devil kernel" which prevents me to go into dual boot menu.but i am already in devil kernel.
Need some help

Mat9v, I just want to say that you are cruel. After running with your screen settings for a few days I now can't stand the way the screen looks whenever I flash a new CM nightly before I add your script. ?
No, that is Samsung that is cruel :)
Some people like the over saturated colors, there is no disputing preferences.

Yes, it is nearly a chaos here..... LOL :D Even DerTeufel writes down: "browse yourself for download links, I've posted them several days ago" instead of to stick them to the OP :D

But however, yes, this is also a real development thread, with many people of big knowledge here. However, the scripts by @mat9v are IMHO too pricey to get burried, so an extra thread would be higly appreciated. Same like "Dual Boot FAQ thread" by @RichMD is really good to have.

Due to popular demand...... here is my own thread with scripts, guides and so on.

Knox-free 4.3 MJ5 bootloader & baseband [N7100 only]

OK friends
I assume after several received PMs after my recent post that some more people are interested in flashing a 4.3 bootloader. So I post now here direct download link for N7100XXUEMJ5 bootloader & baseband for those who really can't live without it. (Mirrors welcome, PM me)
Please mind that this crappy package contains also stock recovery and few more things, so the flashing proceeding is bit more complicated. I didn't want to spend time on repacking and compressing the files again, rather had a bit longer flashing process. I also didn't want to experiment with bootloader Odin package on my phone- this one works. Whoever feels grateful for this package, please visit faria's thread and thank him for creating it.

Bootloader flasher:
I will just allow myself to say that flashing a bootloader is potentially the most risky task your Odin can do. It usually works fine and boootloader is flashed within few seconds. But if this process gets interrupted by whatever (moved USB cable, electricity shortcut etc) I refuse any responsibility if you mess this up and get your N7100 hard-bricked. There is no excuse for that. People of experience know about all this. But we have also new mates here, and as I don't want to hear here any tears also from unexperienced mates, here is a noob-friendly flashing guide:
  • installed and perfectly working Samsung USB driver
  • strongly adviced to use exclusively a well known PC that has been flashing with Odin reliably already before
  • no Samsung Kies in background! (kill process with the Task Manager or uninstall that crap)
  • Download the newest PhilZ recovery as Odin package (philz_touch_6.12.8-n7100.tar.md5)
  • Nandroid backup of all ROMs on your phone you care about (especially the secondary ROM)
  • run Odin 3.04 or 3.07 (or other attached) as administrator (3.09 not tested by me)
  • unzip the downloaded MJ5 boot&baseband package only once (use for example 7-Zip for that)
  • choose in Odin under PDA the extracted file final.tar.md5 (28.291 KB)
  • uncheck Auto-reboot (checked by default)
  • run your N7100 into the DL mode just short before flashing, so now is the moment
  • connect N7100 via original USB cable (or 3rd party 100% working USB cable) with your PC
  • if <Added!> and ID:COM port number are displayed in Odin, click on "Start" (if only one or none of both appears stop here!)
  • after green "Pass" is displayed, the dangerous part is finished- now just disconnect your USB cable
  • reset Odin and choose under PDA philz_touch_6.12.8-n7100.tar.md5 recovery
  • uncheck "Auto-Reboot" in Odin (checked by default)
  • connect again your USB cable (your phone is still in the download mode)
  • if <Added!> and ID:COM port number are displayed in Odin, click on "Start"
  • if nothing appears, disconnect USB cable and turn off the phone
  • run it again into download mode with 3-buttons-combo and connect with USB cable
  • flash recovery
  • disconnect the USB cable and run your N7100 in recovery mode with 3-buttons-combo
Now if you are using just one ROM you can keep the beautiful PhilZ touch recovery and flash only your devil2 kernel.
If you use dual boot, flash devil recovery zip, reboot recovery, flash devil2 kernel.

My secondary ROM partition wasn't bootable anymore after flashing this package so I've erased it, created the secondary ROM partition again and restored my nandroid backup.

what benefit is there to flashing bootloader along with this kernel?
You have to know yourself if there is benefit, mate.
It is your own choice.

My N7100 had still a 4.1.2 bootloader, when I bought it new I've just checked if the hardware is OK and after 5min of using stock firmware I already rooted it and installed first custom ROM.... (I just simply hate stock ROMs)

IMO it is probably just a matter of time when would 4.1.2 bootloader start to make problems with the new ROMs. Now with KK it was working perfectly fine, but at some point (is "Lemon Pie" the next Android generation?) 4.2.x or 4.3 bootloader will probably be required for flawless working ROMs. In this moment, it was not yet necessary to upgrade from 4.1.2 bootloader.

Noob question... Does anyone know how to disable or replace the "Devil" splashscreen that comes up when starting up the phone? Would you have to decompile the boot.IMG? Any help is appreciated, tnx!
