Hi all,

finally OnePlus released (late) a kernel code update for OOS 5.0.1.
So here we go for an updated Boeffla-Kernel as well.

Version 3.0-beta3
11.01.2018

Note: This kernel version is only for OOS 5.0.1 or newer!
Update: Merge kernel sources for OOS 5.0.1, which were released 11.01.2018

Enjoy
Andi
Pretty late indeed

Guys, question:

Is it only me (and one more person that I know) having an issue with Magisk on OOS5 on the OP3(T)?

Regardless whether I use Magisk 15.2 or 15.3, I am frequently getting freezes when I start the device. The boot animation first stutters and then stops. Thats it. It happed maybe every 5-10th start. And it does not only happen with my kernel, but also with stock kernel.

When I remove Magisk and use latest SuperSu 2.52-SR5, the issue is completely gone. No stuttering during boot animation, never any freeze.

So, is it only me? Or not?
I consider contacting the Magisk dev in order to shed some light maybe.

Thanks
Andi

I have the same issue with Magisk 15.2. Restarting has a chance (so not always) of having the boot animation stutter and then stop. The next boot usually works fine. If I can provide more information, I am happy to help.

Well, I have informed the Magisk dev, there is nothing I can do.
This also happens with stock kernel (have tested that a few times).

I flash system with Magisk 15.0 so that it can boot and then update to latest one. I was also stuck on bootanimation with magisk 15.2.

Hi Lord Boeffla, I posted about your last kernel for op3 probably on the bad thread <sorry can't paste links yet :) >

Anyway, I'll post the same report here

I downloaded "boeffla-kernel-3.0-beta3-OOS5xx-OnePlus3-anykernel.recovery.zip" file from your page. Nice to know is on the road again!

As a reporter I can inform a little bit about it. This is my report:
Nethunter is working ok, console, rubberducky, bad usb mitm, etc.
No bugs detected on camera or flashlight like in some old versions, everything ok.
Drivedroid is not working like in older versions.
AndroidAuto has a strange behaviour. It works on phone but pluggin in into car, the car is not detecting it as an Android auto device. I can't compare with older versions about this because I bought recently an Android auto compatible car, sorry.

Thank you for your effort as always! Kali Nethunter couldn't be possible on op3/t without you!

Hi, thanks for your comments.

I have no opinion on the Nethunter stuff, as this is not included in my official kernel. So it seems you are reusing a version done by ZaneZam.

Drivedroid will never work better until the dev provides a code update for our kernel versions.

And Android auto - no idea. Do not use it, do not have it. Nothing I can say.

Regarding the sporadic boot freezes...

Hi all,

regarding the sporadic boot freeze issue with Magisk 15/16 (which I am sure has nothing directly to do with my kernel, but may be some kind of side effect):

There are people not affected at all, but some are (me including in the past, now I did automated 60 reboots in the past 2 hours and all went fine). It is hard to get a grip on.

For the people affected with the boot freezes, I just put a test version together where I removed some functionalities (dynamic fsync, file system tweaks) and changed the way busybox gets introduced.

I would appreciate if you could test this kernel called 3.0-beta4-test1, I attach it to this post (checksum: 8b6e37385f4069f895b6a270c3a94cf9), in the next days while I am off (I am on a road trip from today evening to Monday morning). As I said, I have no idea if that changes anything, also I cannot test it really due to the fact it is very sporadic,... so I rely on the community here to give feedback.

Many thanks
Andi

Magisk 16.1 and latest official kernel

Ok,

slight change in plans (I planned to release another test kernel today, but this is put on hold for now).

I got reports by two users, which tried latest Magisk 16.1 now with official latest kernel version (not the test kernel!) and the sporadic boot freeze issues seem to be fixed now with the new Magisk version.

I will do my testing too from tomorrow on, but I would appreciate if all users facing the boot issues go back to latest official beta4 when they upgrade Magisk to version 16.1.
Please report if you can confirm Magisk 16.1 working fine with beta4 (or not).

Many thanks
Andi
