Hi all,

finally an update for the OOS5 Boeffla-Kernel:

Version 3.0-beta5
19.03.2018
  • Note: This kernel version is only for OOS 5.0.1 or newer!
  • Attention: If you use Magisk for root, please use version 16.1 or newer!
  • Important: I meanwhile advice to switch ext4 tweaks and dynamic fsync to off for optimal data integrity. Use these two options on own risk.
  • Change: Some improvements to dynamic fsync, however I do not recommend to use it (see above)
  • Change: Changed busybox handling to minimize interference with other startup processes
  • Change: Removed some kernel-tweaks on file system level
  • Fix: Fixed a typo in bccontroller script

Enjoy
Andi

What is the background of disabling the mentioned tweaks starting with this release? I had never an issue using it.
The background is: I could reproducably see loss of data on some devices lately, and I could nail it down to those two tweaks.
Especially (!!) on the OP3/T devices with OOS 5.

It is my strong recommendation as I see stability and integrity (of data) as a must-have prerequisite, but you do not have to follow if you never faced that issue. It is fully up to you.

Hi random question but I don't know where else to ask or whom else would know..

Basically where is the CPU temp file located on oos 3.x

Found battery @ /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp but where is CPU stored?

I use
/sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone2/temp

Andi
Ahh silly me it needs a lower devisor to get the first 2 digits then zone0 thanks Lord.. Lastly why was the thermal option removed from the apo? I have a OnePlus 3 that crashes after a certain temp.. Would be a lovely addition...

There used to be an option for thermal throttling in the app somewhere but it was removed in an update... Or disappeared for me... Where's the option located and I'll go look?
There was never such an option in the app for the OnePlus 3.

It is there on the OnePlus 2, as the msm8994 platform supports it. But OP3 and up do not have that built in ever (Qualcomm decision).

Thanks for the reply perfect response although I swear I saw it one my OnePlus 3 at some point as I don't understand how else I'd know about it...

What about my OnePlus X that bad boy boot to 40c and gets to 70c when playing games.. Anything I can so to help sort that?

Tried underclocking and reducing cores but that just makes the rest work harder and just slows my phone down whilst still being 70c

Sorry for going off topic

Nope, the devices just go hot when doing nasty stuff like playing games. But there is nothing built-in also on the msm8974 platforms to have thermal control.

BTW - the OnePlus X kernel was just sunset finally. OnePlus X journey is over with regards to Boeffla :)

Not sure what sunset means but does that mean we're not getting anything past beta 6?
