Changes from 9.0.6 means better standby power consumption?
this sound like if you have bad battery life and think it's kernel related.

both assumptions that the .05 kernel is responsible for your battery life (or any kernel without bugs) as well as to think that a newer version
would change anything (considering the older version had no known bugs which is the case)

read this: http://elementalx.org/the-truth-about-kernels-and-battery-life/

and everybody else should read this at least once in his life and stop posting anything about kernel default setups and battery life as long
as there are no know bugs in a kernel that could cause outliers.

No no. I wrongly related it here. The Pie builds for OP6 are not good for standby, and people say that the 9.0 6 update from the 6T fixed some issues on that phone

i'm on pie from day one with this kernel:

- 0.5%/h idle drain

- 6-5-7.5h SOT on full brightness depending on use case

all this with a quite non-saving setup, 12 email accounts syncing at all times, 5 social media apps running at all times, all themed
setup for good performance withing given parameters, dozens of LED functions, ambient display DOZE 100% disabled etc. etc.

what you were able to read about kernels and battery drain also applies to OS/ROMs as long as there are no known battery hogs.

and the fact that battery consumption is 80-90% user setup /user space is still fully valid.

most people simply don't know how to keep battery usage in check without facing underperformance.

one key is certainly radios, it's the most neglect topic when it comes to battery usage and nobody could ever explain to me why LTE should be needed to make calls and/or to websites are watch a video that runs at a give speed at a given resolution. not only is LTE a lot fast than needed for most use cases, but it's also a lot less stable in cell signal and switching cells more frequently, this beside it's anyway much higher footprint on
the battery.

in short, try to use 2G while screen off and not streaming anything and 3G for common tasks and reduce LTE for tasks where it makes sense and you'll be surprised.

that was only one example, i strongly recommend a wise use of tasker to use the resources of your device according to needs and not according what's possible or what's available, you'll be sruprised at least i do not need sounds at night and syncing + accurate location while sleeping, that alone + most efficient radio can save you 0.5% per hour at night or in idle mode, depending on needs.

story could go on for almost ever, perhaps it would make sense to read through the older batter management threads that got kind of forgotten after doze implementation. for me, doze does not serve because it delays to many tasks i need to be instant and does reduce some of the footprint which i can easily live with, hence i do all the stuff manually like in the old times. ;)

first thing is to purchase a sophisticated battery measurement tool, physical and software and measure useage of a device in detail, especially by app but precisely with time stamp and compare with logs. that will enlighten many to see how many useless tasks are performend and how many are unnecessarily killed, together with the fact that many wakelocks when killed cause more drain due to the ever repeating attempts of apps to get what they want/need done and or starting from scratch rather than keeping certain information in RAM to avoid frequent repetitions.

most of what mentioned cannot only be automated but backed up via TiBu and/or in app backup tools, hence have to be setup once and for all and can be used cross device, not all but many and the rest with small alterations.

OnePlus ends device seeding program for custom ROM and kernel developers

https://www.xda-developers.com/oneplus-developer-program-custom-rom-kernels/
I think it's not as bad as it sounds. Devs don't get the devices for free, yes. But devs who really like a device buy it on their own - just like we normal users do. Buying a phone means usually using it as your daily driver, so there might be more incentive for supporting it.
Having multiple devices laying around while using the one which the dev selected for his personal use 'can' be contaproductive.

At least that's what I think.

Wow. Maybe they just need to evaluate and be more selective towards what development they want for OnePlus devices. More isn't always best and since the release of the 6 I've personally seen a change from OnePlus while gathering a larger audience in the US and other countries. Being cautious here seems to be the right move. I don't expect them to go complete ignorance towards 3rd party development at all.

---------- Post added at 01:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:29 AM ----------

I bought this phone and the 6T, and the OP5 and OP3 myself. OnePlus only gave me the 3T and 5T. As long as people keep buying my apps, I will buy the OP7.
I applaud your development here. I've purchased EX and will continue to support development as Android, OnePlus, and our communities evolve ???

Hey, I know this is technically just for OP6, but does anyone know if High Brightness Mode (via flar2's app) works on the OP6T?
it should work because i use it on any device with amoled display successfully including the OP6, i decided to skip the 6T because i need notification LED hence can't tell from first hand experience.

if you have the 6T, just try it out, nothing brakes and in addition to that i have to say that while i have it always on during day time on i.e. my old Nexus 6, i use it only in summer on the motorbike at full sunshine on the OP6 because OP displays are really bright out of the box.

Hi @flar2
i'm on open beta 7 and your app suggests installing the 3.06 version. The second post says 2.02 for open betas. Has something changed regarding that or does the app not recognize the beta correctly?
