b) it's not kernel related, the earlier you understand that the earlier you can search the culprit in the right place that is user space, apps, settings and . setup as well as combinations of those.
use a battery monitoring app of quality to monitor battery usage by app/consumer and time to find the culprit.
all above is only certain if you didn't change relevant kernel settings, be it on purpose or by accident, means of course one can tweak the kernel the way that it would become a battery hogwhile i assume from your post that this is not the case, at least not knowingly.

And yes didnt change really big thing in the kernel settings. Nothing fancy honestly. And what is weird is that it has been workint for hours and all or a sudden I have been stuck with those high frequencies. How to kill your battery in few hours...
