no offence to franco

but i cannot believe you guys think what he 've said is possible

it's just a kernel not power machine

if your roommate has 45% left it's already amiracle

in my experience ,franco kernel did save some battery in Prior versions not r97:p

the difference between franco and stock should be within 2% in one hour

Obviously there are a lot of other factors that go into battery consumption but it was an interesting observation and I thought I would share :good:

comparison like that is for reference only anyway
the comparison is not 100% meaningful unless both of the phones use the same app and screen on and off the same amount of time.
e.g. I could have SOT of 3 hours without using the phone much or i can get SOT down to no more than 1:30 hours if the SOT is about Ingress.

so take it easy.

but of course I am sure franco kernel is more battery friendly

Re: [KERNEL][GPL][N4] franco.Kernel - r100

I use just McastBcastFilter = 0 and my phone deep sleeps fine and the battery life isn't drastically reduced. There's a Push Notifications Fixer app in the Play Store as well, but that doesn't work for me

Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Did it fix the notifications delay by only modifying this one setting? I admit I did not test enough which combination would correct that issue for me. I started using 3G data exclusively ever since I got the phone because apart from the notifications issue, my main problem has been data throughput while on WiFi. I only get download speeds of 800kbps while my other android devices get 20mbps off the same connection. I could only achieve the same speeds with the Nexus by modifying the gEnableBmps setting, which in turn would not let the phone deep sleep, causing an idle drain higher than with 3G, making the whole thing pointless.

Re: [KERNEL][GPL][N4] franco.Kernel - r100

If the kernel is not using stock colours since r14, can you implement in the app a stock colour profile, Franco default colour profile and then whatever custom ones we add?

Hi Franco
Do you know if the wireless chip supports raw monitor and injections to be use with aircrack. And if yes there's a chance in near future to build a option in your fk to load this custom wifi driver. It will be nice to have option like that, will make your kernel and n4 a real bad boy.
ps

AW: [KERNEL][GPL][N4] franco.Kernel - r100

Because it was my experience that with those settings the phone doesn't go into deep sleep.
That depends on your wireless network. If it is "noisy"; with a lot of multicast and broadcast traffic, that is not filtered anymore, the nexus will wake up for every mc/bc packet it receives.

Stock colors look horrible, I don't plan to do that.

That driver is not for this wifi chip, nothing I can do.

Sorry that was an example of drivers and what they can do, i know they are not for n4. Is there any way that we can find out if this wireless chip supports raw monitor / injections. I try to look on the internet but i didn't find much.
Than you!

I was testing it with a WiFi hotspot from another phone. Nothing else connected to it. It wouldn't sleep for one second due to a 'suspend_backoff' wakelock. I still need to try it all again with my WiFi router where I can have control over those packets.

Time for updates (about time, this new gamma interface business took a good while to finish!):

8.9:
* Update languages (thanks contributors)
* Polished the apps layout
* Clicking on the app version preference brings up the menu now
* Fix FC when changing governors and then clicking on Governor Control
Nexus 4:
* Added new gamma interface for the new kernels (r100 or newer)
* Added new Sound Control (r100 or newer)
Old color profiles won't work in the new kernels - delete them and make new ones

Thanks for all the support. Any problems email me! Don't forget to leave me a good rating :)

And also a new kernel which I hope will last for a little while, this weekend was pretty heavy in kernel/app coding I hope I can hold off any new releases for some days.

I'm uploading the boot.img and the zip as we speak, will be available from the app right away (the app update should be available as soon as Google refreshes their servers).

r102:
* Fix that saturation bug in the gamma code
* Add headphones gain level. You can increase or decrease the headphones gain (from -11 to 11). /sys/class/misc/soundcontrol/gain_level. You can decrease it a little and then increase the volume which will help on sound clarity.
* Fix the bug that caused FC on the app when changing governors + hitting governor control (yes it was caused by the kernel surprisingly)
* Increased the auto suspend timer on the hsic driver which should help to cure data losses on a small number of users
* Also reset 1026MHz voltage to stock levels to prevent any sudden crash when users undervolt a little bit too much which would trigger a crash mostly due to low voltage on 1026MHz

All in all its mostly a bug fixing release. I hope its great. Like I said during the weekend please help each other, lets make this a healthy environment!

I'll sleep happy now. Good night folks!

Re: [KERNEL][GPL][N4] franco.Kernel - r100

I'm not sure what all the data and call drop problems are coming from that you guys are seeing but I've never gotten any of them.

I do see it switching towers from one side of town to another (don't forget that they are working on LTE in many cities) and I did see a few times data stall but just restarting the app (YouTube or browser) immediately recovers. So I don't think it has anything to do with the kernel but a lot to do with software you're running.

Re: [KERNEL][GPL][N4] franco.Kernel - r102

So I tried searching in this thread but I couldn't quite find the answer (even though I think I saw it somewhere here).

I have PA 3.1 and Franco's app. I love PA's colors and would like to save it, install franco kernel, and apply the PA colors, but the franco app doesn't allow me to save PA's colors (probably because they are not the same kernel). Any way around this?
New values are in this init.d you can look Inside and take them for Francos app

Wow! Not sure if I should move from r100, this is by far the best kernel ever used on my n4. Almost 7 hours screen time. Just fantastic Francisco! Awesome! Thank u soooo much!
