Are you running the stock 6.0 ROM? Are you running the LTE or Wi-Fi version? The "Tethering & Portable Hotspot" option is completely missing from my settings (LTE model), so not sure how you are toggling it on. I'd be interested in learning how to enable Hotspot on my LTE N9 on the stock ROM. Better off posting this in General or Questions thread where it will get more exposure.

after installing this kernel, I have an error message from time to time saying
Google play service error, and for few minutes the top bar of touch screen, in portret mode, is non responsive.

any way to solve this?

PS: I started from stock 6.0, and only unlocked bootloader, then install twrp, kernel and su beta

I am running on noobuild MM ROM. Unfortunately I can't get this kernel to boot up. Everytime I try to install I end in a never ending boot animation. Any idea why?

I'm running my LTE+Wi-Fi N9 on simple aosp 5.1.1 ROM, I have options in the settings for USB, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi tethering. Bluetooth tethering is working fine, but WiFi has the issue I described earlier.

I needed to flash chain fire's boot.IMG to avoid a bootloop but once I did that...holy crapballs this thing is FAST. Night and day difference even from the ubermallow version I was using.

Hi @flar2, I am about to get Nexus 9 LTE. I would like to root it and maintain stock ROM. I understand that I need to flash the chainfire boot.img but I could not get the modified boot.img for MRA58N (N9 LTE). Are there any other way that you could recommend?

Update!!!

-installer does not touch /system partition at all
-enforcing/permissive is now optional. Permissive.zip is no longer needed if you uncheck "Enforcing" during installation.

You don't need to flash Chainfire's boot.img anymore.

For stock ROM, it will automatically add the correct sepolicy.

For custom ROMs that need permissive mode, make sure you uncheck "Enforcing" in the installer options.

Download
ElementalX-N9-4.04

Changes:
-enforcing optional
-installer updates

I am assuming that this will allow you to root with both system and system-less methods?

And also for both wifi and lte models?

Thanks for the update.
