UPDATE!!!!

Now that Google has stopped supporting this device, I am syncing with LineageOS for the latest security patches. This should work fine with stock Nougat or custom ROMs.

Users of EX Kernel Manager running Oreo will notice ElementalX is now available. I haven't tested it, so I would welcome feedback.

EX Kernel Manager on the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.exkernelmanager

Download (Android Nougat 7.1.2):
ElementalX-N9-5.17

Changes:
-sync with LineageOS for security updates
Will this work with SlimRoms or is it safer to move to LineageOS?

I moved DATA and CACHE from ext4 to f2fs with LineageOS1, no problem !
Me too!
I formatted data, then f2fs. Flashed clean last LOS, su add-on, open gapps pico and latest ElementalX kernel with stock settings.
I didn't restored old data, starting from scratch.
Device is actually improved, thanks to decryption, I assume.

On the same setup on wifi version. No problems with camera.

The Gallery app on prior versions use to reboot my device when clicking on a picture. This release actually fix my gallery bug.
Last version I used was lineage-14.1-20171121, so the gallery app could have been fixed in any rom since that version.

I was hoping someone with a lot of experience with this tablet could help me out. I just picked one up last night so don't have any time with it and can't tell what is or isn't normal.

Like most have said the stock software is basically unusable and needed to come off right away. Seems strange for a Nexus device. Per suggestions I flashed LOS 14.1 and Elemental, converting to F2FS while I was at it. The tablet is perfectly usuable and it's amazing what can be done with a ROM and Kernel. Now for the issue.

Gaming is just not that great. I can't put my finger on it exactly but there is something wrong. I don't now if it is some sort of touch latency, or the panel has a low refresh rate, or just low FPS in general, but something is definitely off. I feel like I start to get motion sickness a little even while gaming. Are others experiencing this?

I'm not sure if it may be ROM or Kernel related, so I will post it in both threads. I suspect this just may be how the thing runs and I should be happy it runs at all. Just curious to others thoughts and opinions.

Use it as a paperweight. The best advice I can give.

Well I figured a couple things out. First off I converted to F2FS and then when I formatted data, it formatted it back to EXT4. So I was never on F2FS to begin with. I reflashed everything and set up properly with F2FS. Runs great. I noticed that there is a different acceleration algorithm for the touchscreen between samsung devices and stock android, so that is what I was feeling when I was comparing tablets.

I also found out what the issue was with the lag. The tablet is just throttling. When it gets too hot it starts to pull performance. I can play high intensity games for about 15 to 20 min and then the throttling starts. So it was a combo of touchscreen calibration and throttling I was dealing it.

Hey all - new user of this kernel (and the associated Android app to adjust the values) on my Nexus 9 running SlimROM. Everything seems to work great, but I can't seem to get certain values (such as zram size) to "stick" after reboots - even though I'm "enabling" the power button icon on the zram size line.

Aren't these values supposed to survive reboots when the power button icon is "enabled" (in the EX Kernel Manager app)?

Thank you!
