Is it because most Android Development ROMs are updated to 5.1.1 r5 and there are more than 3000 commits between r4 and r5?Out of curiosity, I installed the latest Chroma (not trying to pick on Chroma, I just grabbed what seemed to be popular, and it otherwise looks like a fine ROM). It uses the stock kernel, but there is something screwed up with the frequencies. Mpdecision is running, and touchboost is enabled, but all cores are online. Thermal daemon is not running!!! What's even stranger, I installed Stability Test to see if there was any protection from overheating, and as soon as I start the "Classic Test", all but the first core go offline. So I couldn't really test thermals, since only one core is online. When I stop the test all cores return online. With all cores online, it runs fairly hot, over 60C just normal use. This is with stock kernel.
I installed ElementalX, and got the exact same behaviour, which is totally not how it's supposed to work. I then used the app to switch to custom hotplug, and sure enough, the second core was stuck at 2265 and I couldn't get it unstuck.
So I set the custom hotplug to apply on boot, and rebooted. Upon rebooting, the cores and freqs seemed to be acting normal. But I tried running stability test again, and there was the odd behaviour again, with only one core running. As soon as I stop the test, hotplugging returned to normal.
So if you install this ROM, you are not getting an optimal ElementalX experience. I assume other ROMs may not be optimal for ElementalX either.
I have no idea why Chroma behaves like that.
If anyone can shed light on it, please post it.
Flash permissive.zip when you're using AOSiP. Read the OP.I changed my rom from M preview to AOSIP (fully wiped including internal storage) which is now based on 5.1.1_R5 and with the latest 4.02 kernel had nothing but FC's. Changed it to your M preview and it appears to work a treat! Possibly something to do with the modem from M being installed? Either way, just a heads up for anyone suffering the same issue.
Im also getting a bit of gui lag on ressurection rom.
I have a problem with gamma settings every time I'm changing the profile after i put the phone in charge or i didn't find out how when i check the phone it is back to its original color the cooler disabled as well gamma working but keep resetting I'm using latest 4.02 along with ex kernel manager
@flar2 , I just caught a kernel panic on latest 4.02 version. Didn't have time to check but I thought you should know.
I don't visit the forum much due to lack of spare time, so I wish you all the best.
Edit: I think I've read something about some ROM's causing trouble with EX, for reference, I'm using stock 5.1.1.
There is something wrong with your setup then. Dirty flash before installing elementalx.
Certain Roms are extremely broken lately. I would stick to stock.
Elementalx Governor does not lag, ever. When I see people talking about lag, its because their ROM has broken mpdecision or touch boost or powerHAL.
HiThere is no difference in anything that would affect ui performance on any recent version
If you say so. But my experience wasn't same with latest release. I had a bit of lag with 4.0.2 which wasn't there on 4 and 4.0.1.
Now I'm using v4 no lagging any more.
