Hi guys, I'm new to AK Kernel but I'm interested in flashing this since it gives USB OTG support. In the instruction, it says to flash "last UKM", and then " install Synapse". Can anyone refer me the files, and explain what those files do (sorry guys I'm a noob)? I'm currently on Minimal OS, do I need to wipe anything before flashing?

UKM (at the bottom of the page): https://drive.google.com/folderview...&usp=sharing&tid=0B77BTW0zStYCSTRIYWpZQS1nOWs
Synapse (kernel manager): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.af.synapse
Synapse is the app that you'll use if you want to tweak the ak.kernel, or any other kernel you want. In order to be able to use Synapse, you need UKM.
Also, USB OTG doesn't work with an ordinary OTG cable, like the new devices do. You need an Y-cable for that (google it to see how it looks like).

OK thanks for the explanation :) Should I wipe anything before flashing the kernel and UKM? Also would something like this works for the USB OTG:

No need to wipe anything as long as you're using the stock kernel that came with the ROM you have installed.
As for the otg cable, I think the reason you need an Y cable, is because the phone much charge at the same time you have the usb drive connected to your phone. I just think, I'm not sure.

Hey Guys im using Pure Nexus ROM (6.0) with Az kernel and my Synapsis app always display a toast warning saying "synapsis boot cancelled".

When i load up the app interface there is a notification saying that "the last applied settings have not been deemed stable due to a possible crash or reboot of the device".

The thing is, it only happens if i hard reboot it (even if i disable the integrity check feature), with soft reboot everything goes smooth.

Im new at this kernel modding stuff and i assume i could have done some mistakes.

What i did was

A) Clean installed the ROM
B) Installed the AZ Kernel and then UKM 3.8.1 in the recovery queue (TWRP)
C) Installed Synapsis and noticed the problem
D) Installed BusyBox (i thought it came within the ROM)
E) Reinstalled Synapsis and the problem persisted
F) Tried changing one option at a time and soft rebooting, everything applyed with no problem
G) Hard reboot - bang! problem's back (even if i leave all settings default). :(

Should i try another app? Which would you guys recommend?

Im clueless about how to solve this ):
@update

I installed Taurus Kernel and it is working well now!

Where can I read more about what some of the features mean? I see them in a few kernel feature list, but don't know what they mean or would like a detailed description of how they work. For example... BFQ, Faux sound control, Arch power,Gentle fair sleepers, etc.
Thanks

Hi,

I would like to try this kernel, but I dont exactly understand the install guide. What doest it mean, Flash last UKM?
Also, do I need to "dirty flash" my current ROM first or just flash the kernel zip and thats it?

Thanks for help! :)

EDIT: I have already found my answers.

UKM is something that's necessary if you want to tweak the kernel with the Synapse app.
And you need to dirty flash your ROM then flash the kernel.zip, only if you have another custom kernel already installed on the device. For example, if you have "Taurus kernel" currently installed on your device and want to try out "Quanta kernel", you have to dirty flash the ROM first, then flash Quanta.

Last question :)

in description, there is:
Version Information
Status: Stable
Current Stable Version: AK.M2.MAKO
Stable Release Date: 2015-10-26

but I am able to download AK.M1.AOSP only. Is it just name mismatch?

Thanks
