Yes, you can flash and forget about it, or you can use some kernel manager to tweak whatever you want.

When using your kernel and app are the cores supposed to come back online at a reboot if they where turned off? If so is it possible to somehow make it stick/turn them off again automatically?
I'm seeing 0,44% active drain and a 1,12% idle drain and some notifications warning about above 5% idle drain. Something is off. Looks like active and idle has been switched. Around two hours screen off and 6 screen on. That's switched for sure ?

Cores come back eventually, they go offline due to thermal throttle.

If you turn them off via app then you must turn them back on with the app as well.
I think we are talking past each other here ? What I'm seeing is that cores I have turned off are back online after a reboot. Is that supposed to happen and if yes can I force them to go back offline again automatically?
OH that. Yeah that's intended. I'm going to add a set on boot thing for the next release, wanted to see how this feature worked with others before adding a restore on boot option
@franciscofranco so now that the Nexus 5x won't receive any new security patches or software updates from Google, due to the end of the guaranteed support period, will you also stop developing your kernel for this device? May I ask about your plans about it?
When there are new things to add/improve I'll keep doing it. But I doubt this device will receive many improvements in the future. The chip is crap, the display response rate looks like a bloody monitor from the early 80s, and the battery is just ok. The only thing that saves it is the camera, it's really good even for today's standards. So yeah, don't expect magic

Wireguard updates itself every time the Kernel is compiled, it fetches directly from their HEAD.

It is time for me to get a new phone, but that probably won't happen for a few more months. Plus I have to decide what to get - and the fact that you won't be supporting Pixel 3s doesn't make that choice any easier ?
OnePlus 6T is a good choice without destroying your bank account.

Cheers!157Current r1 is not yet complete, I think it only lacks sound control, but it's pretty much done.
Took me a little while to find the right balance, this little bastard lags easily, but this Kernel is pretty much a "clone" of FK for the 6P so I'm sure you'll have some fun with improved battery life.
FKUpdater will be updated tomorrow to support this Kernel and the final r1 release will also be out.
Any feedback about UI responsiveness and anything else that comes to mind, now's your chance to talk.
Two things to note though, EIS video stabilisation is enabled automatically with FK, just check your Camera app and you'll see it, and FK ships with a slightly cooler display colour temperature, and a very slight saturation boost.
I wasn't supposed to work on this device because I didn't want to shell out 450 euros for a device I wouldn't use outside Kernel/app development, but in the end I did it for you.

1. Offload a lot of background daemons to the system-background group, which only allows them to run on cpus 0, 1 and 2, freeing all other cores, specially the big cluster. This will reduce needlessly cpu wake-ups from idle, and largely reduce processing power requirements from cpu 3, 4, and 5 (4 and 5 are part of the big cluster, which uses a lot of energy)
2. Lower power consumption from the big cluster by lowering the occurence of sample rate which'll in turn make the big cluster cpus less nervous and say in lower frequencies more often. In contrast little cluster is a little more forgiving and scales up a little easily. Since the little cluster uses 4 times less power, this is just fine
3. Tweaked Performance Profiles, Power-saving now turns off the big cluster to save precious power, but the little cluster will be boosted for longer during input touch events
