Ok. Slight change in my plans...
As the changes to the hotplugging stuff are too foundational, there will be no beta20.

I will first provide a stable kernel with the charging fix and the updated extreme thermal config.

Then the new approach for the hotplugging will come a bit later as first beta of a new major release.
But really thought it is time for a stable release now.

Andi
Hey, I am loving the kernel as I am getting as much Battery life as on the Moto Turbo. Though I have an issue. My camera isn't working. Its just black. I've tried searching around the thread but it seems that search is down.

Are you on Oxygen 2.2.0?

For older Oxygen versions you need to use older kernel versions.

Camera is working without issues here on my OP2.

Install stock kernel then and see if it makes any difference.

I have not changed anything related to camera drivers etc - this is full 100% stock code. So I doubt this has something to do with the kernel.

Andi
It's fine with the stock kernel and AK Kernel.

I sent you by pm that configuration and you never reply to me anymore and now you are posting it as if its yours. It's just a configuration but It doesn't feel good if you post it like that taking all the credit. I have been hours testing it.

Sent from my ONE A2005 using Tapatalk
What are you talking about the last thing you told me is that you suspect 1.2ghz throttle triggers the LP mode, you spoke nothing about cores, not cool my friend

What I'm suggesting is underclocking and disabling cores from the app not the thermal file preventing the thermal to heat up quickly and trigger the throttles

It changes A57:A53 cores to 3:3 then eventually to 2:2 to stop throttling along with frequency throttling.
Switching off big cluster is not there at all.
Actually I had this profile(thermal-config) ready from a long time ago but I was not aware that boeffla config was interfering with this.
I usually try to get the best perf/W from what's available switching off big cluster would be totally against that.
Hopefully they'll get better with the battery life in their next update.
Aha and did you post your latest thermal

I can tell you guys 1 thing... If you want gaming try to reduce gpu to 390mhz as thats the most common state in today in gaming even fot dead space 2... And then put interactive battery extreme for a53 with atleast 2 hotplug active... And put a57 at 1.5ghz with all cores active and with interactive performance. This will do well for all games. Thank me later for it xD

You are still testing on stock kernel? You mean Dead Effect 2?

Exactly what I am using since 2 days, but I put interactive performance on a53 cores also, because battery extreme on them makes UI choppy. The amazing fact is is that the phone heats much less than 4 a53 cores and 4:2 a57 cores active doing daily stuff like watching videos, browsing and light gaming( don't know about heavy gaming). The a57 cores are supposed to generate more heat, but this combo seems to be perfect. I have also put touch boost on one a57 core, which makes the UI more fluid.

Thanks

Actually you can do something fot d.effect2 xD... Since it doesnt utilize the a57 like hardly... You disable it completely or run 1 core with performance interactive. Run a53 all cores active with battery extreme.... Gpu remains at 390mhz

I am on OxygenOS 2.2.0. When I open the camera it just crashes.
clear data and caches for the camera app and report back, no issues with the camera at all and never had.

those who complain about 2.2.0 and battery life, still get the very same 8+ hours SOT full brightness first 20% bat, then reduced to autobright via tasker, 3G with screen on and no wifi or 2G ln wifi, 9 accounts synced + greenify + amplify. no change in battery life observed at all.

generally while we're playing with kernel settings and the likes we should be aware that strange things can happen and as well that a clean install is due from time to time to get rid of residues and/or conficting stuff. i never understood this thing about residues but it definitely happens that even a system wipe was not sufficient, recently i could only get rid of an issue on my nexuse 6 by "formatting" the data partition to 2ext and back to 4ext which litteraly means to go for a real clean slate. just sayin' because if this battery stuff would be a genereal 2.2.0 issue, hence a but, my results would not be possible and i've seen others posting screenshots with 8+ hours and one with 9+ hours SOT and by now means with letting the device idle on the table as the battery stats were clearly showing. if there were a problem with 2.2.0 it would simply not be possible.

wrong the moment it drops the big cluster, the game no longers runs in flawless 60fps

running amazing with my setup

Stable release

Hi all,

as I wrote before already, I decided to now come up with a stable release first with some fixes and smaller improvments before I do the bigger changes (especially on the hotplugging stuff) in a new 1.1 release branch.

So here we go, first stable version 1.0 for now:

Version 1.0 stable
07.01.2016

  • Note: This kernel version is only supposed to work on OxygenOS 2.2.0 - nothing else !!!
  • Fixed custom charge rates not working properly for USB connections
  • Thermal configuration for "extreme" profile improved (credits to hamdir), now slightly less aggressive
  • Debug Info File enriched with more useful debugging data
Enjoy
