Hi I just switched from oxygen os to lineage nightlies and I get an error when flashing this kernal. Do I have to have the official lineage or am I missing something. Thanks
Try to flash from within the "Franco Kernel Updater App" and if that's not working from TWRP and vice versa, depending on what you tried already...
If you come from another kernel restore your stock boot.img first by either dirty flashing the rom or restoring your boot partition in twrp, if you have a backup..

A couple of issues

I tested FrancoKernel for OP2 and I want to report a couple of problems I have.

First, when I receive a call the screen turns on only a few seconds after the phone started ringing. If this is a wanted feature, I find it a bit annoying if I have the phone on the desk while I'm working and not in my pocket. Furthermore when the screen turns on for like 1 second after the phone becomes laggy - both the screen and the sound. By the way I'm using Google Dialer (com.google.android.dialer).

And second, I had a terrible experience with Google Calendar (com.google.android.calendar), which became extremely laggy after flashing the kernel, and I can't understand why.

I was on an almost fresh install of the official LineageOS 14.1 (15/06/2017) with the r8. The OS is rootless, so I tested this kernel as I flashed it, without changing any of its settings. Because of these issues I was forced to flash the stock LineageOS back.

I only wanted to inform you, Franco, of these problems I was facing, hoping that your kernel will pull out the most from this device. Thank you for your work, you are a great developer!

please consider that it's something on your side since you're either the only one wiht all those issues and even if there were a few others, all other users including myself have not the slightest kernel related issue. if you have a problem with an app it's either and app or incompatibility problem, for example flashing too large gapps packages that overwrite the built in apps and become incompatible.

further, if already you jump to such conclusions, you should provide a log, the info you provide is just stating and assuming without any evidence.

if something happens after flashing a kernel it's mostly a coincidence and only logs can point the culprit if the issue is not widely spread among many users.

New Franco Kernel version for the OnePlus 2

r9
1. Synced with LineageOS's Kernel tree
2. Merge some patches from July's Security release from Google

zip: https://kernels.franco-lnx.net/OnePlus2/7.1.2/anyKernel/fk-r9-anykernel2.zip

Franco Kernel Manager & Updater is the best companion for this Kernel (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.franco.kernel)

I also strongly suggest you install Naptime (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.franco.doze), for free, to achieve the best battery life through out the day. Try it, you won't be disappointed!

The free app is dead, it was hurting me more than it helped while atracting idiocy in its reviews because every mother and son wanted their devices to be supported and didn't care to read the description. Sorry!

Didn't find anyone else with this problem: I am using Resurrection Remix as my ROM. Whenever I try to flash Franco kernel from the manager app or recovery, Magisk (which is included in RR) will get removed after the reboot. Is this a bug, or will I have to do something differently to prevent the removal of Magisk? Also, when I open FK Manager after a fresh flash of RR, it actually says that version r1 of the kernel is already installed. I can provide logs if needed.

I would try this.
Check if magisk is latest.
If not, uninstall magisk with magisk uninstaller.
Flash kernel.
Flash latest magisk.

Noob here....
Just wanted to ask will I loose my old pictures after flashing this kernel.
(Using RR 5.8)

Hotplug is the action of onlining a core (after it has been unplugged) in a live system, which is present in any Kernel of any device with more than 1 core. You can offline it through sysfs. What you are asking is: if there's any automatic mechanism that onlines & offlines cpu cores based on some special heuristic. The answer is no.

They are online at all times unless there's the need for some thermal throttle. They'll follow the standard Linux resume->suspend mechanism just like any other "normal" phone when the OEM doesn't **** with the natural cycle. This is exactly how the Nexus 6P (same chip) works. I explain it in the changelog & in the feature list. Cores will go to idle in a "jiffy" if they don't have any runnable threads running.

define "pictures" there are all kinds of "pictures" if you mean photos and media in general, that's impossible, not even remotely kernel related.

if you mean profile pictures as you mentione, the same, has absolutely nothing to do with the kernel, they belong to "app data" and they certainly are not touches by the kernel, not even close.

you refer to "someone" posting "something" which is exactly why at times i get too exited when i see people jumping to conclusions and posting all kinds of BS because they simply assume the they don't do anything wrong, hence seek for a culprit and at times, like in this case, the blaming roms and/or kernels is really ridiculous.

in short, no, not because you flash the kernel will you loos any media.

EDIT: most people simply forget to consider that in most cases they flash a new kernel jointly with a rom update, often clean installs, directly after rooting or any other steps that could be responsible for data loss.
i've seen people blaming a rom after unlocking the bootloader which as we all know wipes internal storage, just an example, not directly related to your issue.

I have nothing to say. The article is pretty clear. It's a very complicated subject.
No. EAS requires more than just backporting things randomly and it's a waste of time.
Hi,
You might be aware that, Sony Xperia Z5 premium has already ported EAS. Is there something holding you to port it on OP2?
There are some clear evidences of battery improvement with this feature, might be nice to have it on OP2.

Anyone know where we can get the APK for the manager app? I would really like to try it first on my OP2 to see how it works, especially since there are also in app purchases.

Buy it from playstore. For first few hours u'll hv refund option available in play store. So u can try all u want.
And in app purchases r not for any additional function, they r donations.

I'm using Naptime, and observing that the ongoing download stops when aggressive doze kicks off. Any suggestion/tips please to prevent that from happening? Thanks.
