I am using a Pixel XL with the October Android 10 factory image. I have installed Magisk. Launching the app I get a pop-up saying it was granted superuser rights. However, when I have the App download and install the latest kernel, it reboots my phone into the stock recovery where is says "no command"

The replies all seem to say use TWRP, which does not exist for Android 10 yet, afaik, or to just install from the app. Is there an image I can flash from adb or am I missing something?

Also, does anyone know how to remount /system as RW in Android 10? Everything I have tried has failed. (I need to modify build.prop for wifi tethering.)

Thank you!!
You should choose direct install in the app not the recovery one.

In EX Kernel Manager app. Go to setting then at the bottom uncheck "automatically reboot". Install the Kernel thru the app and don't reboot when it asks.
Then open Magisk and Install --> direct install. Then reboot.

Yea. Thanks for the support. And totally understandable why klapse isn't included.

If I get bored I'll try porting it myself

Battery life comparable on king kernel?

I'm just trying to play around with the Pixel XL at its end of life and hopefully keep it semi-usable until I get a new phone (might be fairphone 3 if I get paid by the government in time to pre-order)

As long as your Marlin is 'rooted' with an unlocked bootloader, there is no EOL.

Sadly there is EOL for my device.

Had it charging for awhile the other day, came to grab it from it's charger and it is stuck on the battery charging screen (when it isn't booted up). I can't boot it up anymore. I can't get to the bootloader. It's dead now :(

Assuming that you already attempted the ADB method to resurrect it?

Anybody using Elemental on DU14? I flashed it with EXKM but the phone got into a bootloop. Had to fastboot flash my backup boot.img to get out of the loop. Was previously on the final Google update and jumped onto DU last week when it became official. While DU is smooth but the screen on battery drain seems to be noticeably higher than Google stock so I was looking at trying Elemental.

Getting the same bootloops after the google image after installing on Pixel Experience.

Conflicting advice in thread, OP says its only for stock rom, yet others have been able to get it working on custom roms.

So is the kernel working on AOSP based roms or not? I'm pretty sure I've used a previous version fine, so can't understand the boot loops now.

    Update!!

This version is flashable in recovery.

    Simply flash in TWRP recovery.

You do NOT have to install SuperSU after this. It works whether you are rooted or not, and there will be different options depending whether you are rooted or not. If you are not rooted, the only options you get will be max cpu frequencies (overclocking/underclocking). If you have root, then you will get options for s2w, s2s, backlight dimmer, fsync, and iosched.

    Update!!

    Version 0.07

Sound control is updated to add earpiece, mic and speaker controls and to fix problems with gain resetting. Hopefully I covered every scenario. Thanks to @chdloc for guidance.

I need to update EXKM for full sound control. It will have gain control for main speaker, earpiece speaker, mic, analog and digital headphone gain, plus a toggle for stereo mode if you are using @chdloc dual speaker mod. Eventually I will also be redesigning the sound controls to make them easier to use, but that won't be in the next update.

    Also includes November security update

    Update!!

Initial release for Android 8.0.0 Oreo. Everything is like the Nougat kernel, except the installation is tricky at the moment.

Something changed with SuperSU and my old way of keeping root seems to have stopped working. I have not had time to investigate, and likely won't until TWRP and everything is settled. For now, you will need to install the stock boot.img, flash ElementalX, then flash the latest SuperSU (doing this in a different order will probably either unroot or restore a backup boot.img).

I did not test with Magisk.
