I am using this kernel over the stock rom and the battery life is had been better. Can we install future updates from sony ericsson over the kernel. If yes, can it be over the air update or only through SEUS?
while you may flash custom kernels, your bootloader is unlocked. while your loader is unlocked, you can't update by seus and over air. you get a brick)) so there are no question about official update. you may update by flasher only.

next. SE do not will release any updates at android 2.3.* base, I think. SE engineers works under android 4.0.3 adaptation. So not early march 2012 we will think about new firmware..

Do not even try to update over the air when you have unlocked bootloader. Even in you unlock it officially.
Also, AFAIR aire remove FOTA support from his kernel, so even on stock rom you phone will not update anyway.

but we did it with the test point method, it's still have a chance to be updated from SEUS unlike the official one.

Can someone Make a Rom like this with Stock Kernel? I am reluctant to unlock Bootloader at the moment..
While your bootloader is not unlocked you can't flash ANY kernel even including Stock. Because it (kernel) is not signed by digital signature (inside file). You can only flash by flasher official firmware, each part of it is digitally signed. Nobody in the world excluding SE can generate this signatures. THIS kernel is based on initial codes from SE.

but we did it with the test point method, it's still have a chance to be updated from SEUS unlike the official one.
You are right of course but I own e.g not going to relock a bootloader anew. I hope that we will receive new firmware soon after release in a format of ours flasher))

nice work!
Thanks for a response!
And all other guys too))

Are you sure your APN is setup correctly ? Please verify.
Also after un-installing some APN toggle software, they leave you with disabled APN, could that be the case ?

I am using this rom and kernel now for a while. When I just flashed the rom, the phone suffered from battery drain while on 3g. I flashed a different baseband but that did not seem to help. I re-flashed the rom and using it now for a week or 2 again. Unfortunately, the batterydrain problem still persists; when on 3g network in idle, the phone uses 20% battery in 8 hours with full reception. When switching to gsm only, the batterydrain is gone. The phone uses less than 1% battery per hour.
I have autosync disabled, mail set to check manually. Only whatsapp is on push, but thats default. Also, I hardly ever see wackelocks (but that is because the rom is so clean).

Does anyone have an idea how to solve this? Much appreciated!

by me: i have with this OC kernel litle bit better result than on stock kernel... but diferences is in 1 % per situations.... if i`m using automate switch off data per night i`m in 1,5 - 2 days without charger and it`s ok .... have anyone other (better) result ?

Hi,

well to be honest, my phone has the same drain in 3G, with stock rom+kernel, but also on the 4pda rom+kernel. I do some powersaving by using 'green power' tool, but any 3G toggling tool should save battery by switching on/off 3G in background.
This seems to help a bit, but still I'm not impressed.

It still could be a 'bug' in the phone, still to be discovered by a developer, because my phone only lasts 23 hours by default, which is not good with a 1500maH battery inside. My previous "old" samsung apollo has same battery and lasted much longer on one charge, so it's either a xperia Ray HW issue, or a kernel thing..i assume.
I even put cpu clock on 122-368 mhz when screen-off but it doesn't help much, so It's not the CPU eating our battery here.

My phone is on the charger every night, and sometimes I even need to charge earlier in the evening because the phone starts complaining about low battery.

What also could cause the drain in 3G is that our general phone antenne performance is not good, and the phone needs higher RF output power to send back to the tower.

Well, as there is much development on our phone, maybe some developer is able to re-use code from another xperia family phone to solve this irritation :)

I think that it is rom related (.58 firmware). I'm from the Netherlands, and when on stock .42 SE rom flashed from xda I did not have such batterydrain. Overnight, maybe 10% was gone when on 3g. This was after I removed bloatware, with location services on and weather app refreshing every hour. Afterwards I flashed your kernel on that rom, and I had a overnight battery drain of 4% on gsm only (with data connection).

I had this problem before with hongkong edition .58; I switched back to .42 and the problem was gone. So first I thought it had to do with basebands, but already tried that. I owned a DHD before, on standby with custom rom 3g idle it was using like 6-8% overnight in 8 hours.

Don't get me wrong, I like this phone and this rom is awesome, so do not think that I don't appreciate your efforts (TS). I am just a bit annoyed that this bug wasn't there in .42 and .58 has it. So I think that I will revert back to original .42, remove as much bloatware as possible and flash your kernel (which made the device a lot smoother, tnx). I will gladly report back with the results then after a couple of days usage.
